The Tipperary Under 20 Hurlers final group game will take place this Wednesday 29th April away to Limerick in TUS Gaelic Grounds with a 7.00 pm throw in. Tickets to the game are available through the Munster GAA website or in participating Centra or SuperValu outlets. Tap and Go will also be available at the venue. The game will be streamed live on YouTube SpórtTG4.
As it stands, Clare top the group on six points, with Tipperary and Cork level on four points each. For Tipperary to secure top spot, they must defeat Limerick, hope Cork overcome Clare and also rely on score difference going in their favour. The top team progresses directly to the Final while second and third place advance to the Semi Finals. Tipperary, Clare and Cork have already secured their places in the knockout stages – Wednesday’s games will determine the final standings and who advances directly to the Final.
Looking ahead to Wednesday’s clash with Limerick, the sides last met at this level in last year’s group stage with Limerick emerging victorious, 2-13 to 0-17. Tipperary had the upper hand the previous year, winning 3-18 to 1-17, with goals from Darragh McCarthy, Oisín O’Donoghue and Senan Butler. Tipperary were also winners when the sides met in the 2023 group stage, 1-15 to 0-16, with Seán Kenneally scoring the goal. Limerick claimed a 1-25 to 2-18 victory in the 2022 Munster Final, where Kyle Shelly and Jack Leamy raised Tipperary’s green flags. The last meeting prior to that came in the 2018 Semi Final when Tipperary recorded a 1-22 to 1-13 win with David Gleeson scoring their goal.
Tipperary Minor Hurlers
The Tipperary Minor Hurlers face Limerick this Thursday 30th April at 7.00 pm in TUS Gaelic Grounds in the lads third game in the group stages of the Munster Championship. Tickets to the game are available through the Munster GAA website or in participating Centra or SuperValu outlets. Tap and Go will also be available at the venue. The game will be streamed live on YouTube SpórtTG4.
Limerick have held the upper hand in this minor hurling rivalry over the last five meetings. Limerick were winners in last year’s group clash, 2-13 to 0-18. The year before, however, Tipperary edged it 0-13 to 0-12. The 2023 encounter was another tight affair decided by just a point, with Limerick winning 1-23 to 1-22 – Sam Rowan scoring Tipperary’s goal. Limerick also claimed the Munster Minor title in 2020 after a 2-22 to 0-25 extra-time victory over Tipperary and the year prior Limerick recorded a comfortable 3-24 to 1-15 win in the group stage.
Tipperary’s last group game will take place on Friday 8th May at 7.00 pm against Waterford in Cappoquin Logistics Fraher Field.
