Support for Ger Ryan
Best wishes to Templederry Kenyons clubman Ger Ryan on his campaign for Uachtarán of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael. An outstanding candidate, Ger brings vast experience and proven leadership. He served as Chairperson of Munster GAA from 2022–2025 having previously held senior roles including Vice Chairperson, Chair of Coaching & Games, and PRO. He also represented Tipperary GAA as PRO and Munster Council delegate. At national level, Ger has chaired key committees including Medical, Scientific & Welfare, Communications and he currently serves as Chair of the Central Referees Appointments Committee. He is also Chairperson of the Governing Body and Management Committee of Semple Stadium. Within Tipperary, Ger has given decades of service through the Supporters Club, the senior hurling team and his club Templederry Kenyons, where he is a former chairperson and current committee member. Ger has made an immense contribution to the GAA locally and nationally and Tipperary GAA is proud to support him as he seeks the role of Uachtarán.
Tipperary Senior Hurlers
The Senior Hurlers suffered a heavy defeat to Limerick last Saturday evening in FBD Semple Stadium, going down by 0-21 to 0-36. The Treaty men were on top from the outset and raced into a 0-7 to 0-0 lead after just ten minutes. The damage was largely done in the first half with Limerick registering 20 points to open up a 13 point advantage at the interval.
Matters worsened early in the second half when Willie Connors received his marching orders, reducing Tipperary to 14 men. Despite a gallant effort, Tipp were unable to reduce the deficit. The standout performer for the home side was the evergreen Noel McGrath who finished with an impressive six points from play.

Tipperary Senior Footballers
The senior footballers came away from Longford last Sunday with a hard-earned 0-18 to 1-15 draw with Tipperary registering the final four points of the game to secure a precious point in what is shaping up to be an evenly contested Division 4 group. In fact Tipp had a chance to win it outright but a late effort drifted wide after they had hauled themselves back on level terms. Tipp made a strong start and led 0-3 to 0-0 after seven minutes but Longford gradually worked their way into the contest and had the sides level by the 21st minute. It was a tit for tat affair from there with Longford taking a 0-9 to 0-7 advantage into the interval.
A goal in the 40th minute stretched the home side’s lead to four points but Tipp finished strongly. Two late two-pointers from the impressive Cian Smith, who finished with eight points, along with a Sean O’Connor free brought the visitors back on terms to earn a share of the spoils.

Their league campaign continues this coming Sunday March 1st, when they host Leitrim at Clonmel Sportsfield with a 2.00pm throw in. Leitrim have enjoyed the upper hand in recent meetings, winning 0-15 to 0-9 when the sides last clashed in 2024. They were also victorious in 2022, recording a 2-16 to 2-8 win. However Tipperary had the better of the rivalry prior to that, claiming league victories in 2020, 2014 and 2013.

Please note that Tap & Go will not be in operation at any venue, and in line with GAA policy for all competitions, no cash will be accepted at the turnstiles.
Minor Football
Well done to our Minor Footballers who defeated Wexford last Saturday in Ferns on a 0-11 to 0-8 scoreline in the Leinster Minor Football League. The lads will take on Carlow in the Semi Final this coming weekend with fixture details not finalised at time of going to print.
County Leagues
The groups for the FBD Insurance County Hurling and Football Leagues have been announced.
Hurling
In Division 1, there are three groups of six teams. The winner of Group 1 progresses straight into the final, while the winners of Groups 2 and 3 meet in a Semi Final, with the victor advancing to the final. First round fixtures see Borris-Ileigh host Nenagh Éire Óg, Clonoulty Rossmore welcome Drom & Inch, and JK Brackens face Kiladangan in Group 1. In Group 2, Toomevara take on Holycross Ballycahill, Thurles Sarsfields play Kilruane MacDonaghs and Cashel King Cormacs meet Moycarkey Borris. Group 3 opens with Loughmore Castleiney against Upperchurch Drombane, CJK Mullinahone versus Carrick Swan and Roscrea facing Gortnahoe Glengoole.
Division 2 features two groups of six teams with Semi Finals in which the first placed team plays the second from the opposite group. Round one sees Lorrha Dorrha host Killenaule, Ballina play Burgess and St Mary’s meet Boherlahan Dualla in Group 1. Group 2 has Clonakenny facing Templederry Kenyon’s, Thurles Sarsfields taking on Moneygall and Éire Óg Annacarty Donohill playing Moyne Templetuohy.
In Division 3, also split into two groups of six, the Semi Final format mirrors Division 2. Silvermines meet Ballingarry, Golden Kilfeacle play Kilsheelan Kilcash and Cappawhite host Portroe in Group 1. Group 2 features a clash of neighbours in each tie – Sean Treacy’s against Newport, Borrisokane versus Shannon Rovers and Knockavilla Kickhams taking on Arravale Rovers.
Division 4 consists of one group of six teams, with the top four progressing to Semi Finals (1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd). Round one has St Patrick’s against Moyle Rovers, Holycross Ballycahill playing Thurles Sarsfields and Clonoulty Rossmore hosting Toomevara.
Division 5 includes three groups. The winner of Group 1 advances straight to the final, while the winners of Groups 2 and 3 contest a Semi Final. Round one sees Carrick Davins host Cahir, Rockwell Rovers play Ballybacon Grange and Ballinahinch meet Moycarkey Borris in Group 1. Group 3 has Kilruane MacDonaghs facing Thurles Gaels, Skeheenarinky meeting Gortnahoe Glengoole and Ballybacon Grange hosting Killenaule.

In Division 1, a single group of six teams sees the top two advance straight to the Final. First round fixtures have Clonmel Commercials against Moyle Rovers, Ardfinnan playing Arravale Rovers and Cahir hosting Golden Kilfeacle.
Division 2 also consists of one group of six, with the top two progressing to the Final. Kilsheelan Kilcash meet Grangemockler Ballyneale, Fethard play Aherlow, and Galtee Rovers face Moyne Templetuohy.

Tipperary Coaching & Games Development
Tipperary GAA Coaching and Games are hosting a Youth Coach Workshop focused on skill development through games based coaching. The workshop will feature guest coach on the morning, multiple All-Ireland winning coach Mikey Bevans. Warm up and speed development will also be covered by Tipperary Academy Athletic Development coaches. The workshop takes place on Saturday 28th February at 10.30am in Coolmore Morris Park. The cost is €20 per coach with tap and go or cash accepted.
Mick Frawley Under 15 Interdivisional Football Tournament
The Mick Frawley Tournament took place last Saturday morning in Fethard Town Park. The South claimed the Cup after defeating the Mid in the final, with Ciaran Condon captaining the victorious side. The North won the Shield following a 3-6 to 2-5 final victory over the West, with JJ Roche leading the team as captain.

All Ireland Junior ‘B’ Hurling Championship
Hard luck to Silvermines who lost out to Tommy Larkins (Galway) last Saturday on a 2-10 to 2-9 scoreline in the All Ireland Junior ‘B’ Semi Final which took place in Killeedy.
Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship
Well done to Knockavailla Donaskeigh Kickhams had had an impressive 3-15 to 0-13 win over Smith O’Briens Killaloe last Saturday in Newport in the Munster Hurling Semi Final. Kickhams will take on An Rinn of Waterford in the final which takes place in Newport on Saturday 7th March with a 2.00 pm throw in.
Noel Cosgrove Table Quiz
Marlfield GAA Club is hosting a table quiz in commemoration of Noel Cosgrave (RIP) on Thursday 26th February 2026 at 8 pm in Carey’s Pub, Irishtown. A table of four costs €20. A donation will be made to the Cancer Support Centre Clonmel. Raffle tickets will also be sold on the night. Prizes for the winning teams include two tickets to see Westlife, a game of golf for two at Faith Legg, Co. Waterford, and two tickets to see the “Live Forever” Oasis Tribute Band at the Talbot Hotel, along with many other prizes. First, second, and third prizes will be awarded to the top teams.

2026 Tipperary Club Season Pass
The 2026 Tipperary GAA club season pass is now on sale and can be purchased via the events section of the Tipperary GAA App. The pass which will entitle the holder entry into all adult divisional and county games at adult level will cost €170.
Scór Sinsear 2026
Comhghairdeas to everyone who took part in Senior Scór last Friday evening in Templederry. A wonderful night of entertainment and culture was had and we congratulate all clubs that took to the stage on Friday. Joanne Shanahan was a wonderful Bean an Tí and kept the show running smoothly. A sincere word of thanks to our judges Sinead and Treasa who were on hand and of course to the Templederry Scór Committee who made everyone feel so welcome.

Sympathy
Tipperary GAA wish to express their sympathy to the friends and family of John Ryan, who passed away last week. John was one of the greats of Clonmel Commercials, winning five County Senior Championship medals, including a remarkable three-in-a-row in the 1960s — an achievement that secured his place among the elite players of his era. His talent was equally evident at inter-county level. John proudly represented Tipperary in the Munster Championship, lining out at Junior level in 1953, 1954 and 1959, and at Senior level in 1953, 1954, 1959, 1960 and 1964 — a testament to both his longevity and his standing within the game. More than medals and victories, John will be remembered for the pride with which he represented his club and county and for the legacy he leaves behind in Clonmel Commercials. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
