Following the highs of our defeat of Galway in the All Ireland Quarter Final the focus for Tipperary’s footballers now switches to August 21st and a clash with Mayo who last Saturday dug out a one point margin victory in their All Ireland Quarter final tussle with the Ulster champions Tyrone.
No strangers to All Ireland Semi Final day having been there for the last six years, Mayo will come into the game as hot favourites and will pose a massive challenge for Tipp in the pursuit of a place in the All Ireland Final.
Tipp on the other hand certainly wont lack confidence either and if they can maintain the form that got them over the line against Cork, Derry and Galway, another upset could well be on the cards. Remember just seventy of football stand in the way of an historic place in this years All Ireland Final.
Golf Classic
Last weekend the Friends of Tipperary Football held their annual Golf Classic Fundraiser at Thurles Golf club producing a well packed and closely contested programme of golf over the two days. Given Tipperary’s march forward in this years All Ireland football championship and the added costs in team preparation, the Friends of Tipp play a big part in defraying the many expenses incurred paving the way for our footballers to drive on uninterrupted as they try to achieve their maximum potential.
The Friends of Tipperary Football committee would like to thank our main sponsor Mr Mister and everyone who submitted teams, purchased tee boxes, others who provided sponsorship or helped out in any way and of course Martin O’Dwyer who was the central lynch-pin in putting the whole programme together in what was a magnificent and well supported fundraiser.
