20I4 CAMOGIE LEGENDS TOURNAMENT

Tipperary travelled to St Brigid’s GAA grounds in Blanchardstown, Dublin, on Saturday last, March 1st, to play in the Annual 7 aside Legends Camogie tournament. Tipperary played in Group 1 with Down and Cork. 1st up at 11.00am: Tipperary played Down and had a very easy win on a scoreline of: Tipperary: 4-3 Down: 0-3 . Tipperary’s second match was a local Derby against Cork who were last winners but once again the Tipperary side played out of their skin coming out on top on a scoreline of Tipperary: 3-7 Cork: 1-3

Next up was the Semi-Final where Tipperary played a very good Galway team, led by Sharon Glynn. Again, Tipperary proved too good for their old rivals Galway, and won on a scoreline of Tipperary: 1-9 Galway: 2-4

In the Final Tipperary met with a very strong Dublin team. Tipperary came out all guns blazing and had 1-7 on the score board after 8 minutes of play to Dublin’s 0-1. Tipperary added a further 1-4 to Dublin’s two late goals leaving the final score Tipperary: 2-11 Dublin: 2-1

Nessa O’Driscoll gave an exhibition in Goal. Clare Madden (Captain) and Niamh Harkin were brilliant in defence. Cashel’s duo Emily Hayden and Philly Fogarty covered every blade of grass in the midfield area. Up front our two forwards, Eimear McDonnell and Maria Harkin were magic. When called on, our subs Tess Bourke. Clare Horan, Brid Morris and Niamh Bonner put up an excellent performance.

Congratulations to our Legends Team of 2014, on an absolute brilliant performance on the day. Congratulations also to the Management: Lenny Philips , Deirdre Hughes, Nora Dwan and Marion Graham. This Team are Legends all round.
