Irish Daily Star Camogie League Division 1
Tipperary 2-11 Clare 2-08
The senior girls travelled down to Clare last Sunday 13th march for the 3rd round of the league, having lost the previous 2 games Tipp badly needed a win and they didn’t disappoint and were well and truly fired up for this one picking off some good scores in the 1st half and going into the break it was even with the score board reading 1-04 each.
In the 2nd half Tipp were more clinical in front of goals making the most of the opportunity’s presented to them and finished the game stronger giving the girls their 1st win of the league but equally as important a confidence boost ahead of next weekends game against Offaly.
Jenny Grace was accurate from the frees and Tipp management will be pleased to see a number of forwards getting on the score board, so a good win girls keep up the good work well done.
Minor A Championship
Tipperary 0-10 Clare 1-06
Tipperary minors took on Clare last Saturday in the camogie grounds the Ragg in the 3rd round of the championship looking for their 3rd successive win and just about got over the line on this occasion.
In the first half only 1 point separated both sides with Tipp having the advantage on a score line of 0-05/0-04 thanks to points from Orla O’Dwyer ,Keely Linehan and Grace O’Brien.
In the 2nd half Clare really came out all guns firing and Tipp found the going tough at times struggling to get to grips with the game and in the last few minutes Clare snatched a goal and it looked like a draw was on the cards until Tipp earned themselves a free and up stepped Grace O’Brien and accurately put the ball over the bar which was the last score of the game giving Tipp their 3rd win of the championship.
It may not of been the best display of camogie we would normally associate with this minor team but it was a test of character to still come away with a win even if things were not always going your way on the day , so well done girls on the win.
U16 A Munster Final
Tipperary 4-03 Cork 1-15
The Tipperary u16 girls took on Cork last Sunday in Kildangan Gaa grounds in the Munster A final, unfortunately for Tipp it was all Cork in the first half with Tipperary conceding too many frees and the Cork number 10 Cliona Healy punishing Tipp at every opportunity leaving the half time score Cork 0-07 Tipp 1-01 with the Tipp corner forward Caroline Brown getting both scores.
They say goals win matches but unfortunately for Tipp this wasn’t the case even though we scored 3-02 in the second half Cork scored 1-08 and it was heart break for Tipperary loosing in the end by 3 points.
U16 B Munster Final
Tipperary 1-05 Clare 2-04
It was heart break for the Tipp girls on this occasion also losing out to Clare by 2 points in the B final in what was a very entertaining game of camogie with little or nothing between both sides right up to the final whistle with a goal from Clare snatching victory from Tipp leaving Philly Ryans girls heart broken.
Tipp found scores hard to come by with only 2 of the forwards getting on the score board Maeve Hogan scoring a point and the impressive Clodagh Kinane scoring 1-04 , Tipperary will be disappointed and feel this is one they should of won and had we been more clinical in front of goals the result might of been different, hard luck girls a brave effort.
