Tipperary Association Dublin Announce Annual Award Winners

The Tipperary Association Dublin have this afternoon announced their annual award winners and the two recipients will be well known to all Tipperary GAA supporters.

The doyen and stalwart of Tipperary hurling and Thurles Sarsfield’s clubman, Padraic Maher, has been chosen as The Tipperary Association Dublin’s Person of the Year for 2022.

Padraic retired from hurling in February 2022 on medical advice bringing to an end a glittering 13-year inter-county career during which he won every honour in the game. A six times All Star, he won 5 Munster senior championships, 3 All Irelands and a Railway Cup medal. At club level Padraic won 7 Senior County championships and 1 Munster medal with his club Thurles Sarsfields. Last year Padraic published his memoirs in his book entitled “All On The Line”.

The recently retired Secretary of the Tipperary GAA Board, Tim Floyd has been selected as the Association’s Hall of Fame winner for 2022. Tim was an accomplished footballer and hurler with his club and at county level winning a minor All-Ireland hurling medal in 1976. But it was as an administrator and as efficient officer at all levels in the GAA which sets him apart. He served as Secretary to the Co. Board for 14 years and is hugely respected both within and outside Tipperary. Prior to that he was the driving force behind the county draw. As Secretary he played a major role in the development of Dr. Morris Park and was instrumental in securing vital sponsorship for Tipperary GAA.
