MOYCARKEY N.S. V. RATHKEEVIN N.S. U-13 LADIES FOOTBALL ROINN A
On Thursday 6th October 2016, Moycarkey N.S. had their first ladies football match of the year. They took on a skilful Rathkeevin N.S. side in Roinn A of the Under 13 Ladies football. The match took place in New Inn with ideal weather conditions for amazing football to be played. Rathkeevin had a brilliant start as they were in front of their markers for every ball early on and they quickly picked up a 3 point lead. Moycarkey finally got on the scoreboard near the end of the first half when Ellen Maher went around her marker and popped the ball over the bar after a fantastic pass from Orlaith Ryan. The score at half time saw Rathkeevin leading by 2 points on a score line of 3 points to 1.Moycarkey controlled possession in the second half and turned the possession into a goal thanks to Caoimhe O’ Sullivan’s outstanding strike. Moycarkey continued to pile on the pressure looking for another goal and it arrived shortly after the first thanks to Lucy Purcell. Rathkeevin never gave up but they were up against a powerful defence in the shape of Lucy O’ Keeffe in goal and Shauna Flanagan, Mia O’ Meara and Kate Dowling in the backs. Caoimhe Fitzgibbon also played excellently when brought on. At the final whistle it was a joyful win for the ladies of Moycarkey with the final score being 2-1 to 0-3. Everyone played their part with both Kate O’ Keeffe and her replacement Aoife Maher having notable performances as well as Shakira Donoghue who never stopped running in midfield. The Moycarkey team now look forward to playing against Ballylooby in their next match. By Ellen Maher (Moycarkey N.S. – 5th class).

ALL IRELAND CUP VISITS
The County Board Officers met with SH manager Michael Ryan and Games Development personnel this week to discuss All Ireland Cup visits. Conscious that all our senior inter county players are in full time work or colleges, their availability will be very much confined to their own local area.

Based on this the following is the procedure for club and school cup visits;
• Clubs must first discuss a visit to your local schools with the local Co Games Development Administrator (GDA) as they have the responsibility of co-ordinating cup visits for clubs and schools.
• Priority will be given to clubs and schools who had players involved in either All Ireland SH or MH panels but the onus will be on those clubs and schools to have their own local county players available so a date will have to be selected to suit them.
• The Games Development Officers will sit down on a weekly basis and plan the schedule of visits for the following few weeks based on expressions of interest.
• Clubs without a member on the panels may avail of a cup only visit, but the onus is on the club to secure the services of a panel member to accompany the cup if they are in a position to do so.

MOUTHGUARDS
As the football season begins schools are reminded of the importance of mudguards for all children participating in Cumann na mBunscol matches. Both boys and girls playing in Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic Football fixtures must wear mouth guards without exception at all times. It would be advised that schools would also use mouth guards when training to allow children to get used to using them and to follow best practice.

REPORTER OF THE WEEK
Schools are reminded and encouraged to send news and updates of their progress in the football championships for the coming season. Reports can be a great writing topic for the classroom and are an opportunity for children to see their work published for a wider audience. In the pre-season championship build-up children could be given the chance to tell about their own training regiments and tips for the coming championship. A Reporter of the Week will be chosen and their work included in the weekly report. Please ensure all reports are a single paragraph in Verdana 10 type. All submissions should be proof-read by the teacher before submission.
