BURGESS NS U11 HURLING BLITZ REPORT BY BRÍD SLATTERY
Tuesday May 6th was a very exciting day for the U-11 hurlers of Burgess. Most of the players had been disappointed by a defeat at club level on the previous evening to Lorrha in an enthralling match that went into extra time. The first match in our U-11 blitz was against Moneygall and in spite of the terrible downpours of rain the players played their hearts out. Five minutes into the game and Moneygall were on a roll with their first point. Star-players on the day were Cathal Greene, Seán Kenneally and Michael Ryan. In spite of all of our efforts we conceded the match to Moneygall on a score of 3:09 to 2:01. The next match was between Rathcabbin and Moneygall. Players Oisín Guinan and Martin Gorman gave a great display for Rathcabbin but the illustrious Moneygall in a great display of hurling finished on a score of 5:08 to 1:03. The final fixture of the blitz saw Burgess meet Rathcabbin, in a very exciting game . Eoin Grace led off with the first point, followed by another from Micheál Ryan. Kieran Grace came in as a sub and made a huge impression on the day. The match moved up a gear with a goal by Ciarán Slattery, followed with another by Eoin Grace from a free. The Second half saw plenty more scores, with two goals from Conor Reidy who made a fine contribution as a forward, along with Liam Grace who gave a sterling display in defence and a wonderful goalie in Mary Darcy. There was only a two point margin between the teams when Jimmy Cahill, the referee blew the final whistle. The field and facilities in Kilcoleman were in great order too and well done to all concerned. We extend our thanks to Mr. Conor Darcy, Rathcabbin N.S. Mr. Damien Egan Moneygall N.S. for a very sporting event and we wish Moneygall every good wish as they advance onwards to the Cumann na mBunscol Final in Thurles in June.
BURGESS NS U13 CAMOGIE BLITZ REPORT BY BRÍD SLATTERY
In spite of the odds stacked against our camogie girls, not being relegated to a small schools division, the girls put in a Trojan effort in their games in Dolla on Wednesday 7th May. The opening game against Carrig N.S saw wonderful displays by all the players, but particularly Caolfhionn Maher, Katie Grace, Danielle Boland and Bríd Hayes, scoring 4 goals between them in spite of Carrig’s gallant effort scoring only a goal, Burgess held victory in this match. Our next clash was against Ardcroney N.S., saw a huge effort from all the panel but unfortunately, we lost out to a stronger Ardcroney side on a final score line of 4 goals to 1 goal. We are very proud of all our girls and we thank Breeda Floyd and John Hogan for all their efforts with the team. We thank Mr. Reale of Lissenhall N.S. for co-ordinating these fixtures and ensuring all went smoothly on the day.

All schools are asked to inform the children and staff to wear their County GAA colours or Club GAA colours to school on the day. It is just a GAA initiative so soccer and rugby jerseys should not be permitted. Please take photos on the day and send them to pro.cnmb.tipperary@gaa.ie and I will send them on to the PRO of the Munster GAA Council, who will put the photos onto the Munster GAA website.
REPORTER OF THE WEEK
Schools are reminded and encouraged to send news and updates of their progress in the hurling championships for the coming season. Reports on upcoming challenge games would be hugely appreciated. Reports should include, in as much as possible, school names, referee, venue, final score and a balanced account of the match. A Reporter of the Week will be chosen and their work included in the weekly report. Please ensure all reports are a single paragraph in Verdana 10 type.
