THE MAROONS MARCH ON
This second round game was played in New Inn recently, in good conditions, but with dark clouds hovering. Mercifully the hail waited til half time and the shelter of the Stand was welcome to all. As a contest the game was over by then, the Ardfinnan team surging into and adding to an early lead. Ben Doyle was cleaning up with fellow mid-fielder Eoin Wyse. Finishing at times was poor…an area needed to improve on if the School is to reach a rare Final appearance. The Loughmore lads kept plugging away and they too had their heroes. In goals Bill Ryan saved some fine shots in both halves, centre back Tomás Gleeson did a lot of hurling, as did A.J. Leahy and Darragh Kelly, who scored a goal each. For the maroons Shane Ryan scored two nice goals, Morgan Lambert and Eoin Wyse adding more scores. Liam Burke was delighted to rattle the net on two occasions when subbed in. Aaron Poliunas, goalie was well protected by excellent full back Cian O Mahoney. Philip Betts, Seán Cunningham, Kevin Burke, Tadhg Carroll, Jack O Neill and Jamie O Regan all enjoyed the game and performed well. Thanks to Loughmore for a very sporting game.
