TIPPERARY ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL U13 ROINN C FOOTBALL FINAL MOYCARKEY NS BEAT BALLYLOOBY NS

On Tuesday the 12th of November in Leahy Park Cashel, Ballylooby were set to meet Moycarkey in the U13 Roinn C county football final. In our first match, Ballylooby lost to Moycarkey and we were coming into the county final as the underdogs. All the players were anxious as we know the scale of the task that faced us. Finally after all the training, all the preparation and all the effort the team put in to get to the County Final, the day had finally arrived. Before the match, we got a pep-talk from our coach who told us the team, the positions we were playing in and our final instructions. We left the dressing room, did some drills and then we headed for the pitch to play our biggest match of the year. As we ran onto the pitch our supporters cheered us on. All 12 of the starting players got into their positions. Finally the ball was thrown in and the county final had started. Ballylooby got off to a bright start but did not take their chances which cost us heavily as Moycarkey hit us with 2 quick goals. We finally got off the mark with Zach Keating, who was having a great game in midfield, scoring a vital 1-1 to put Ballylooby back in contention. The referee blew the whistle to end the first half with the score 4-0 to 1-1 with everything to play for in the second half. Ballylooby started the second half with great determination and were rewarded with an inspiring goal from midfielder Patrick Morrissey after a storming run. The influential Shane Crosse then added to Ballylooby’s tally with a fine goal. Liam Ryan came off the bench to snatch a very neat point during a good spell of play for the team in red and black. But Ballylooby’s rally of scores did not last for long. Goalkeeper Tadhg Velthuysen, after a string of remarkable saves, was forced to pick the ball out of the net after a fine Moycarkey goal. It was here that Ballylooby’s ‘never-say-die’ spirit showed itself once more. Corner forward Shannon Morrissey, showing all the skills of a future Tipperary ladies football star, fired in a powerful shot but was only rewarded with a point after the Moycarkey goalkeeper brilliantly parried it over the bar. This was followed by another 3 points by the relentless midfield duo of Patrick Morrissey and Shane Crosse. A remarkable comeback was on the cards until Moycarkey finally sealed their victory with 2 late scores. It was a crushing defeat for Ballylooby but we all took pride in our performance and took consolation in the fact that we won Roinn D last year and had the honour of playing in the county final this year. It was a fantastic achievement for our school and one we will not forget. Ballylooby Team: Tadhg Velthuysen, Dylan Curry, Nadia Keating, Billy Gleeson, Jack O’Shea (captain), Zaching Keating, Patrick Morrissey, Shane Crosse, Michael Reidy, Cathal O’Gorman, Billy Coffey, Shannon Morrissey. Subs: Billy English, Hannah Berry, Ciara Morrissey, Roisin Condon, Stephen O’Leary, Laim Ryan, Cian Fitzpatrick Seán O’ Brien.

TIPPERARY ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL U13 ROINN B LADIES FOOTBALL FINAL RATHKEEVIN NS BEAT GAELSCOIL DURLAS

Faoi dheireadh thiar thall, tháinig an lá, bhí Gaelscoil Durlas i gcraobh an chontae. Bhí gach duine ón scoil ar bís. Bhí an scoil maisithe, an traenail déanta agus bhíomar réidh chun tabhairt faoi Rathkeevin. Bhí turas fada déanta again, alán cluichí imeartha & buaite. B’fhiú go mór na tráthnóntaí amuigh ar pháirc na scoile. Thugamar aghaidh ar Chaiseal maidin an chraobh. Thosaigh an cluiche ag 10:50. Chuir an réiteoir tús leis an gcluiche. Bhuaigh Eimear Nic Craith an liathróid i lár na páirce. Tar éis cúpla nóimead bhí scór ag Rathkeevin. Bhí an liathróid ag dul ó cheann ceann na páirce. Bhí a lán ciceanna ag dul fóraíl. Ag teacht go dtí leath ama bhí Rathkeevin chun tosaigh. Tháinig Hannah ar an bpáirc i gcomhair Katelyn. Fuair Rathkeevin dhá chúl i ndiadh a chéile. Shéid an réiteoir an fheadóg agus leath am a bhí ann. Bhí dhá chúl agus trí chúilín ag Rathkeevin i gcoinne cúilín amháin ag Gaelscoil Bhríde. Cúpla nóiméad tar éis an chaitheamh isteach bhí Gaelscoil in aice le cúl Rathkeevin. Ghlac Eimear cúilín agus ba bheag nach raibh cúl ag Gaelscoil ach stop cúlbáire Rathkeevin an cic. Sábháil iontach. Chuaigh Rathkeevin suas an pháirc agus chuir said an liathróid san eangach. Tar éis é sin tháinig Eimear ó rang a cúig isteach sa chluiche. Ghlac Rathkeevin cúilín. Níor stad Gaelscoil ag troíd. Fuair Chloe cúl iontach, an liathróid sáite san eangach aici, tar éis chomhimirt álainn. Ansin fuair Eimear cúilín. Chuaigh Rathkeevin ar an ionsaí arís agus fuair said cúl eile. Fuair Rathkeevin dhá chúl agus d’fheach sé go raibh an cluiche imithe ó Ghaelscoil. Faoi dheireadh ghlac Gaelscoil scór eile ó Eimear Nic Craith. D’fhreagair Rathkeevin le cúilín. Shéid an réiteoir an fheadóg deireannach. Chaill Gaelscoil Bhríde le scór 7-8 go dtí 3-3. Cluiche maith a bhí ann agus ba mhaith linn tréaslú le cailíní Rathkeevin as an mbua iontach. Thaispeáin said an scil agus bhí an bua iomlán tuillte acu ar an lá. Rinne cailíní na gaelscoile tréan iarracht. D’oibrigh said go dian agus thaispeáin said an spiorad tríd an bhfeachtas ar fad!

RULE CLARIFICATIONS

After several queries on certain rules when playing in Cumann na mBunscol matches, a reminder was sent to schools in relation to play of the ball and square ball rules. For both football and ladies football at U-13 and U-11 only two plays of the ball are permitted, i.e. one hop and one solo OR two solos. In addition to this, schools are reminded that the square ball rule applies in Cumann na mBunscol matches. Finally, a reminder that girls can play on the boys football teams at U-11 and U-13 level but must follow boy’s rules.

MOUTHGUARDS

Schools are reminded of the importance of mouthguards for all children participating in Cumann na mBunscol matches. All boys training for and playing Gaelic football must wear mouthguards at all times. Girls playing Ladies Football and training for Ladies Football will be obliged to wear mouthguards from the 1st of January 2014. Girls playing football on boy’s teams will have to wear mouthguards from now. For P.E. lessons undertaken by the teacher or un-organised football sessions, such as at break times, it is at the discretion of the school as to whether mouthguards are to be used.

REPORTER OF THE WEEK

Schools are reminded and encouraged to send news and updates of their progress in the football championships for the coming season.
