Ballina NS Steal the Show at Tipperary ALLIANZ Cumann na mBunscol County Hurling Finals

The annual Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Hurling and Camogie Finals took place in Semple Stadium Thurles over two days on Wednesday, 25th and Thursday, 26th May. While not as warm as recent years, the dry conditions ensured a high quality of skill and excitement throughout the two days. Record numbers turned up once again each day to witness all that we have come to admire about our native games. We were treated to a feast of hurling over the two days in the Field of Legends. A resurgent St. Mary’s CBS Clonmel added another U13 A hurling title to their impressive collection. Ballina NS arguably stole the show however in annexing five county titles over the two days. This unprecedented achievement is something their whole school community can celebrate for the next twelve months! Thanks are due to Semple Stadium custodian David Hanley for the warm welcome he extended to all the schools and to Andy O’Gorman for ensuring that everything ran smoothly. A special thank you is also due to our referees Padraig Skeffington, Derek O’Mahoney, Kieran Barrett, Willie Barrett, John McCormack, Fergal Horgan and John Bob Ryan plus our very capable Transition Year students for their enthusiasm, initiative and energy over the two days. Michael Skehan was also hugely helpful in greeting teams on their arrival.
The Cumann na mBunscol Officers were assisted greatly in coordinating and organising everything prior to and during the finals by GDA Officer Andy Ryan. Half time and full time score updates were tweeted from all thirty one finals and we had a great response to the games on Twitter from people all over the world. Michael Trehy videoed all the games and we thank him for his cooperation throughout. We would also like to thank all the spectators who donated so generously to our ‘voluntary contribution bucket’ over the two days. This money will be of great assistance to us and will be used to promote and develop our games.
Most importantly, special praise should also be afforded to all the talented boys and girls who graced the hallowed turf in the cathedral of hurling over the two days. The level of skill on display fills us all with great hope as we look to the future. I would like to thank all the teachers and coaches of the teams for their co-operation preceding and during the finals. All sixty two team lists were submitted on time prior to the big days. Tipperary ALLIANZ Cumann na mBunscol are very fortunate to have some of the most dedicated and committed teachers around in our county. It was obvious the great source of pride the teachers take in leading their school teams out on final days. The teachers and coaches are setting a terrific example for all our young boys and girls. Chairman, Paddy Kelly would like to extend his thanks to Tipperary’s County Board and of course to all those at Semple Stadium who contributed to making the Finals such a memorable experience for all the children who were fortunate enough to make it there this year. Match 1: U 13 Roinn B Hurling Gaelscoil Durlas 1-06 Carrig N.S. 1-04
The 2016 Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol County Hurling Finals began on a calm morning in Semple Stadium with an explosive match that was to set the pace for the rest of the finals over the two days of what was the culmination of the efforts of schools up and down the county. Gaelscoil Durlas hadn’t far to travel and stepped out onto the pitch with excitement. Carrig N.S. were not shaken by the appearance of Gaelscoil, confident in their own preparations and abilities. Darragh Stáicliúm would score first and put Gaelscoil on the scoreboard with a point to the delight of their mentors and supporters. Carrig N.S. Sam O’Farrell was quick to respond with an accurately placed over the shoulder point. Going into the second half Carrig N.S. led by a point but this didn’t phase the Gaelscoil side with Eoin Ó Cradóg and Daniel Rossiter both landing points for their side in quick succession. It went down to the wire in the opening match but it was to be Gaelscoil who would clinch the victory and the U13 Roinn B title.

Match 2: Under 11 Roinn C Hurling Knockavilla 4-03 Ballina N.S. 5-08
The second match of day one of the Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol county finals proved no less exciting than the opening match of the day. Knockavilla, so used to the surroundings of Semple Stadium from past experiences in county finals looked excited about what was to come. Ballina, their first match of an impressive five county finals fixtures for their school over the two days, looked equally up for the challenge imposed by the Knockavilla side. As the ball was thrown in to start the game it would be the back of the net each team would find in quick succession to notch up a goal a piece. Dylan Sexton scored for Knockavilla while Brian Bourke answered his challenge for Ballina. Going into the half time break Ballina pulled away from Knockavilla leading 2-03 to 1-01. Eoin Horgan got Knockavilla back in the game early on in the second half with an explosive goal. The combination of Charlie King and Jack Collins would prove too much for the Knockavilla side though with Ballina N.S. claiming the U11 title when the full time whistle blew.

Match 3. Under 11 Rionn A1 Hurling Gaelscoil Durlas 5-05 Carrick on Suir C.B.S. 2-01
Gaelscoil Durlas, enthusiastic after their sides win in the first match of the day entered onto the pitch in Semple Stadium. Carrick on Suir followed, no less determined to claim a county final title for themselves and their school. Both teams looked up for the challenge. Jack Waters would set Carrick on Suir supporters alight with an early goal for a long range free. Gaelscoil’s Ronan Ó Briain answered with a goal of his own. Eoin Carrún and Joe MacConallaidh would follow up woth goals of their own and push Gaelscoil into an convincing lead. Carrick on Suir didn’t back down however. Kian McLoughlin would spur on his side with a goal of his own. It was all to play for as the second half started however Gaelscoil took a convincing early lead which Carrick on Suir found difficult to follow. Gaelscoil efforts would prove too much for Carrick on Suir and a final goal by Nathan Ó Tuama would ensure victory for Gaelscoil Durlas in the end.

Match 4: Under 11 Roinn C-1 Hurling Ballina P.S. 5-04 Gaelscoil Charraig na Siúire 2-04
As the morning sun heated the grounds of Semple Stadium the atmosphere was electric as Gaelscoil and Ballina players emerged onto the pitch, both eager to claim a county final title for themselves. J.P. Mbokha Tansia scored a goal and point in quick succession to boost Ballina spirits. These were answered by P.J. Ó Dondún who notched up the same score for his side to make it level for both sides. Starting the second half it was all to play for as both teams started on a level pegging. Cillian O’ Connor led the charge for Ballina P.S. and was supported by Shane O’ Connell who between them scored an impressive 2-03. It was to be too much for the Gaelscoil side, they fought to the very end but it was to be Ballina’s day and it would be the Ballina captain who would raise the cup for their side.

Match 5: Under11 Roinn B Camogie Our Lady of Mercy 6-02 Holycross N.S. 8-02
The first of the camogie matches to take place over the two days of the Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol County Finals was to set the pace for every other match to come and proved the future is bright for camogie in the Premier County. Michelle Dwan exploded onto the field for Holycross N.S. finding the back of the net no fewer than two times early on in the first half. Emily Coffey answered the challenge set down by Holycross and notched up the first score for her side landing a goal passed the Holycross line. Ciara Ryan would put Holycross back in contention scoring two goals from play after a strong show from the Cahir side of Anika Moloney and Aoibheann O’Donnell. Holycross had a slight lead going into the second half but Our Lady’s spirits were high and they managed to claim four goals in the second half. It was not to be their day however. Holycross, with a tremendous show of force, would go on to clinch the title for themselves and their school winning by two goals as the full-time whistle blew.

As the dust settled from the first of the camogie matches to be played in Semple Stadium for the 2016 County Finals, two teams of determined young women stepped out from the player’s tunnel and onto the field of play. Sarah Hogan scored an impressive goal from a free to set up the Templemore side. Róisín Mockler and Laoise Smyth answered with a goal apiece to put Ballina into the lead. As both teams entered the second half it was clear it was still all to play for. Patricia McWey would lead the charge for the Ballina side and lead her side to victory with a closing goal. Ballina, their third match of the day, lifted the A1 camogie trophy to the roars of their supporters.

As both teams set out from the players tunnel the morning sun was high in the sky and intensifying the already ecstatic atmosphere present in Semple Stadium. St. Micheael’s side were the second team from their school going into a county final spot on day one of the County Finals and hungry to claim a title for their school. The Monastery boys were no less eager to lift the coveted trophy and claim county champion status. Adam Ryam exploded onto the pitch for his side and found the back of the Holycross net and putting The Monastery on the scoreboard. Ben Dudley and Antonio Rea would follow his lead quickly and land two goals of their own. Holycross were ready to stand up to the challenge presented to them. Tony Dwan would notch up no less than 1-04 for his side and managed to keep Holycross spirits high. The second half started with both teams evenly matched. It was to be The Monastery’s day however with two late goals from Adam Ryan and Ronan O’Connor. The Monastery side would go on to claim the title for their school.

Match 8: Under 13 Roinn C Hurling Ballina P.S. 7-06 The Monastery School 1-02
The Monastery School team emerged onto the pitch confident in their abilities and after witnessing their U11 team claim a county final title for themselves. It was their turn to battle it out for the U13 C title. Ballina, no less confident or fired up than the Monastery School side, also sought the same title for themselves. Shane Kelly was first to take advantage of this hunger and put Ballina on the scoreboard with a goal passed the Monastery keeper. Michael Lowry responded with a quick point that kept his side in the game and Ballina under pressure. It was to be the scoring prowess of Cathal O’Donnell that proved too much for the Monastery side however. Cathal could not be stopped going into the second half and notched up score and score and going on to ensure that Ballina would claim the U13 title for themselves and their school.

Match 9: Under 13 Roinn E Camogie Ayle N.S. 6-04 Dunkerrin N.S. 2-01
Ayle and Dunkerrin sides walked out from the players tunnel, each as calm and collect as any senior intercounty team before big game. As the whistle blew to start the game and the ball was thrown in between these two teams, the field came alight. Sorcha White lead Ayle to find their first score, landing a goal past the Dunkerrin keeper. Róisín Dee would achieve three more putting Dunkerrin under pressure going into the second half. Dunkerring ladies didn’t panic but rather stood toe to toe with Ayle with the reward being no less than two Alice Maher goals that ignited Dunkerrin supporters. It was not to be Dunkerrin’s day however. Ayle had a convincing lead and would eventually go on to claim victory and lift the U13 E trophy to the roars of their supporters.

As soon as the whistle blew to start the game between these two sides it was clear that Eimear Power from Gortnahoe and Kate McGrath from Ballycahill would lead the pace for their sides. Both girls would find the back of the opposition net in quick succession and fired up their sides for an epic battle. Going into the second half both teams were almost level. It was clear this battle would go right down to the wire. Kate McGrath and Rachel Quinlan notched up two quick points for Ballycahill and it seemed they were going to lead the second half. Georgina Walsh however kept Gortnahoe in contention and would score two goals in response to the Ballycahill threat. Gortnahoe heaped pressure on the Ballycahill side and claim the title of U13 F champions.

This game brought together two fine schools both with excellent pedigree in recent years. St. Mary’s got into their groove early with a fine score from a tight angle by Conor Egan. Ciarán McCormack replied with a superb free for St. Colmcille’s. Indeed Primary Game Star Ciarán McCormack would continue to exert a considerable influence on proceedings throughout and his final tally of 2-03 is even more impressive when one considers he lined out at centre back. On the St. Mary’s side the pace of Conor Egan and pinpoint accuracy of Dean Cagney were also very impressive. St. Mary’s led by two points at the break. Two second half goals from Ciarán McCormack gave St. Colmcille’s renewed hope but a flicked goal from Sam Johnson gave St. Mary’s a cushion and a lead they would never relinquish. Two closing frees from the outstanding Dean Cagney sealed victory for a superb St. Mary’s side. St. Colmcille’s battled bravely to the bitter end but lost out in the end to a fantastic St. Mary’s side.

The sun was high in the sky as both teams emerged from the tunnel and took up positions on the field. Both were ready for battle. Eoin Grace would claim the first score of the match landing a point over the bar for Burgess and setting the pace for the rest of the match. Jack Kennedy responded with a well-placed point over the bar, he would go on to score 1-03 in the first half and keep Rossmore in contention. A lethal combination of Kieran Grace and Micheál Ryan seen later in the first half and continuing into the second half would heap pressure on the Rossmore side. Four points quickly shot over the bar for Burgess widened the gap between these two teams. Rossmore responded with Jamie Doran expertly finding the back of the Burgess net. It was all too much for the Rossmore side however. Burgess would increase their lead with a series of rapid points and go on to claim the county title for their side.

The sun was high in the sky, the stands were full of delighted supporters and the teams of Loughmore and Cloneen emerged from the dressing rooms, both sides intent on claiming the U11 D title. Thomas Larkin exploded down the field and landed the ball in the back of the Cloneen net, putting Loughmore on the scoreboard and putting pressure on the Cloneen side to respond. William Cleere stepped up for his side and landed two goals passed the Loughmore keeper in quick succession. Both sides were in high spirits and determined to keep up the fight. Going into the second half both sides were separated by a point. Cloneen fought bravely to land 1-01 passed the Loughmore backline with Daithí Hogan leading the charge. Ronan Tangri fought back with his side scoring 2-03 and leading to Loughmore outpacing Cloneen in the final few seconds of the match. It was too late for Cloneen to respond. Loughmore would go on to claim victory. Cloneen fought to the bitter end but it was not to be their day.

Two sets of camogie teams emerged onto the playing field from the dressing rooms of Semple Stadium both in search of the elusive county final title of U11 C camogie champions. Keeva O’Donoghue plucked the sliotar out of the sky and landed it in the back of the Corville net to the roars of their supporters. Ceola Bergin responded in kind finding a quick point for Corville and raising the determination of her teammates. Going into the second half it was still all to play for. Both teams battled hard. It was the rugged determination of the Cashel side that saw them edge away from their Corville rivals. Corville, never ones to drop out, were spurred on by a late Khya Lynch goal. It was not to be enough however. Keeva O’Donoghue and Grace Flanagan both managed to find the back of the Corville net and seal their victory over the Roscrea side.

From the moment the teams of Anacarty and Boherlahan emerged from the player’s tunnel and onto the pitch in Semple Stadium, it was clear this was to be one of the most evenly matched games of the entire two days of county finals. Leah Kavanagh managed to put a score over the bar for her side and put Boherlahan on the scoreboard. Anacarty responded in kind with a point well placed by Orla O’Brien. The backline of both teams were rock solid with forwards struggling to get past walls of steel. Going into the second half it was neck and neck. It seemed as though the match was heading towards extra time as both teams sat at 0-02 apiece. Orla O’Brien lead the charge for Anacarty again and with what was to be one of the last pucks of the game landed a sliotar over the crossbar to the delight of her teammates and the Anacarty supporters. Anacarty relised lifting the trophy and claiming the U13 B county final title for their school.

As both teams entered onto the field of play in Semple Stadium it was clear that both sides were determined to claim the U11 D-1 title. This was to be Clerihan N.S’s first stadium appearance since 2010. The Loughmore side were strengthened by the earlier success of their U11 D team. Clerihan lead the charge with Michael O’Connell and Jake O’Callaghan both landing points over the Loughmore crossbar in quick succession. Richard Morris responded with a point of his own to put Loughmore on the scoreboard. Clerihan N.S. held a convincing lead going into the second half however Loughmore fought back hard with Angela Gleeson and Richard Morris landing two goals past the Clerihan keeper and shaking the confidence of the Clerihan side. Clerihan composed themselves and were determined to retaliate. Three immediate goals by Robbie Buckley, Michael O’Connell and Rory Keeley ensures a Clerihan victory. It was the first county final title for Clerihan N.S. and a proud day for everyone in the Clerihan jersey.

Both Gaelscoil and Tankerstown stepped onto the field to the delight of the crowds of supporters in the stands. Both sides were ready for an epic battle to claim the U11 F title. Daniel O’Dwyer set the pace from an early start with two goals for Tankerstown that would heap the pressure on Gaelscoil. Aodán Ó Conchúir stepped up to the plate for his side and responded with two successive goals for Gaelscoil. It was very much all to play for as both teams entered the second half. Tankerstown continued to set the tone byt Gaelscoil replied with no less than 1-04 from the lethal combination of Danny Ó Cuinn and Cillian Ó hÉilí. Tankerstown fought bravely and never conceded defeat. It was not to be their day however as Gaelscoil would land successive points over the bar. Gaelscoil would go on to lift the trophy and claim the champions title for their side.

The final match of the day was to be as exciting a battle as the first. Thomastown and Mullinahone sides stepped out of the player’s tunnel and onto the field of Semple Stadium with an atmosphere of excitement from the games that had preceded them. Jack Leamy was the first to place the sliotar over the crossbar with a well-aimed free for Thomastown. Mullinahone’s Eoin O’Dwyer responded with two points of his own with the roars of his sides supporters at his back. Brian Marnane and Darragh Hogan heaped the pressure on Mullinahone while finding the back of the net twice in quick succession. Josh Rowan responded in kind with two unstoppable shots past the Thomastown goalie. The second half proved to favour the Thomastown side however. Jack Leamy sealed the faith of Mullinahone with an impressive 65. Thomastown were too far ahead to catch. Day one of the Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol County Finals ended in spectacular style with a delighted Thomastown side raising the trophy and bringing an end to day one.

Match 19: Under11 Roinn B Hurling. Borrisoleigh 5-11 Two Mile Borris 3-13.
Another superb contest between two giants of the school game had us on the edge of our seats from start to finish. Borrisoleigh got off to the perfect start with a goal from the mercurial Padraig McCormack. Indeed young Padraig McCormack gave a display that will live long in the memory and contributed many different types of spectacular scores for Borrisoleigh. Four Stephen Walsh frees kept Two Mile Borris in touch for a short period before further minor and major scores sent Borrisoleigh into what appeared to be an unassailable lead. To their eternal credit Liam McCullagh’s charges came out fighting in the second half and little by little, managed to claw their way back into this contest. Goals from Jack Hayes and Ryan Leahy ensured a nervous finish for the boys from Borrisoleigh. Padraig McCormack helped ease these worries with a few closing frees to secure another title for Michael Small’s team. This was arguably one of the games of the finals. Well done to both schools.

Inch NS continued their recent fine trend with another comprehensive victory in this U11 F1 decider. Gaile NS were back in the stadium with renewed vigour and battled terrifically all the way to the end. No doubt their day will come in the not too distant future. Inch started the brighter and were rewarded with a well taken goal from talisman Eoghan Kennedy. He followed this up with another rocket of a shot to the Gaile net within minutes. Two Sam Doyle goals kept a brave Gaile side in the hunt as half time approached. Inch started the second half like a train and further scores from Eoin Murphy and Eoghan Kennedy ensured the U11 F1 hurling title will rest in Inch for the next twelve months.

Borrisoleigh added to their U11 B hurling success with victory in this pulsating U13 D camogie contest. Borrisoleigh’s Jane Delaney scored one of the goals of the finals when bursting the Moycarkey net with a strong finish early in the game. Further goals from Emma Doolan and Danielle Ryan left Borrisoleigh in a commanding lead. A goal from a free by Emma O’Sullivan had the Moycarkey supporters in fine voice. She followed this up with a fine point on the stroke of half time. Another superb goal from Borrisoleigh’s Emma Doolan early in the second half gave Borrisoleigh great confidence and they finished the contest much stronger than a very brave and committed Moycarkey side.

Golden were back in an U11 E1 decider for the second year in succession. It was their second meeting with Moyglass in two weeks so the teams knew each other very well! A superb Jack Bergin point had the Golden supporters on their feet. John Lacey replied with a superb point for a battle hardened Moyglass side. Nevertheless goals from Daniel Quealy and Jack Bergin sent Eoin Morrissey’s and Tommy Lyng’s charges into the half time interval confident of victory. John Lacey wasn’t giving up though and along with his superb teammates continued to take the fight to Golden NS. On the day though Golden were that bit superior and a spectacular Aaron Colohan goal ensured another title for the boys from Golden NS.

Molly Purcell goaled early on to give the Ardfinnan supporters hope that this was going to be their history making day. An Ashling Nevin goal was the perfect response from a supremely talented Ardcroney side. Ardcroney took a two point lead into the interval. Ardfinnan came storming back in an intriguing second half and a Clodagh Bourke goal looked to have secured a famous victory for them. A couple of Ciara Morris frees for Ardcroney guaranteed a grandstand finish. Ultimately it was a goal from Eabha O’Brien, granddaughter of former Galway hurler Jimmy Conroy that sealed victory for Ardcroney. Hard luck to the Maroons who will no doubt be back stronger next year.

All the recent development and nurturing of players in Cashel BNS is starting to pay rich dividends as they secured a famous victory over that famed hurling nursery Gaelscoil Durlas. Although low scoring, this was a gripping contest throughout with the hook/block/tackle count off the charts for both sides. Cashel had the better of things in the opening half and five points from the outstanding Ronan Connolly saw them lead by three points at the break. Ultimately their defence played a huge part in the victory as they battled heroically to keep a talented Gaelscoil forward line at bay. Joe MacAodhagáin was one of the stars of the show for a terrific Gaelscoil side who just happened to meet a superior Cashel side in terrific form on the day.

This was another absorbing contest between two outstanding sides. Ayle entered the final in confident spirits following victory over a much fancied Golden side. Points from Oran Kelly and Conor Martin had the Ayle supporters in good spirits early on. Three points from Jimmie Molony Lahart kept Ballycahill in touch. A brilliant Conor Martin goal saw Ayle in front at halftime on a scoreline of 1-05 to 0-05. Little did we know then that this would be Ayle’s last score. Ballycahill came out of the blocks very quickly following their halftime team talk and a superb Jimmie Molony Lahart goal saw them take the lead midway through the second half. A couple of late frees from the stick of Jim Ryan guaranteed victory for this terrific Ballycahill side.

Ballina secured an unprecedented title number five at this year’s finals with a comprehensive victory over a determined St. Mary’s side. Caitlin McEvoy gave an exhibition in the first half and finished the half with an impressive 2-04 to her name. Gráinne O’Brien added to this lead with some fine points in the second half. Kerrie Howard replied soon after to get St. Mary’s Nenagh off the mark. The Nenagh girls never gave up and their fighting spirit was in evidence all the way to the final whistle. Indeed Biddy Harty and Caoimhe Connolly look to be fine players for the future. Nevertheless this day belonged to Ballina NS and further scores from Ruth Stritch (goal) and Gráinne O’Brien secured title number five for this new powerhouse of camogie/hurling.

This high scoring contest between two well drilled sides had supporters on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Lisa O’ Connor capped off a fine first half performance with 3-01 for Boherlahan NS. Her second goal will live long in the memory. It saw her catch a lengthy puck out before turning and shooting all in one motion to give the Ballylooby keeper no chance. Ballylooby were also in super form at the other end and goals from Clara English (two goals), Aisling Ryan and Jill Ryan left them in front by four points at the break. The second half was also action packed and an early Ballylooby goal from Aisling Ryan gave Ballylooby the cushion they would never surrender. Danielle Ryan scored two wonder goals for Boherlahan before a late Clara English goal sealed a fine victory for Ballylooby. Both schools contributed hugely to this terrific contest.

Ballinree produced their best performance of the year to get the better of a fine New Inn BNS side in this U13 E hurling decider. Joe McCarthy’s hard work with his young squad on the training ground really paid off as Ballinree got off to a superb start. Terrific scores from Darragh McCarthy (1-07) and Adam Hall (0-01) left them in a commanding lead at half time. New Inn BNS battled bravely in the second half and two fine Mark O’Grady points gave their supporters a glimmer of hope. Ballinree were not leaving Semple Stadium without the cup though and super goals from dynamic duo Adam Hall and Darragh McCarthy sealed a famous victory.

Thomastown are no strangers to the stadium after winning a significant amount of titles in recent years. This fine trend continued when they saw off a superb Ballylooby side in a gripping U13 Roinn C camogie decider. The first half was very even as these two giants of the camogie world traded blows like two prize fighters! Emer Curry scored a first half goal for Ballylooby that had the large crowd up off their seats in admiration. A superb individual goal by Kate Flannery after a long solo run meant that Thomastown went into the halftime interval only two points behind. When Clara English rifled a shot to the top corner of the net for Ballylooby, it was ‘game on’ once more. Laura Hally then kicked a fine goal for Thomastown before Kate Flannery added another shortly after to secure yet another historic title for Thomastown NS.

Ballysloe were back in the stadium for the second year in a row looking to add to the 2015 title they had won in such style. Gurtagarry had been working very hard on the training ground with former Toomevara star John Ryan at the helm. Cian Ryan scored 3-03 of Gurtagarry’s total of 3-04 in a thrilling first half. Darragh Maher gave the Ballysloe fans something to shout about when he fired a rocket to the Gurtagarry net to give his side some reward for some superb hurling in the opening half. The second half followed a similar trend with Ballysloe fighting hard to stay in contention but just coming up short in the end against a superior Gurtagarry side. Cian Ryan applied the coup de grace for Gurtagarry when he blasted a shot in off the crossbar to leave the Gurtagarry supporters in dreamland. A perfect end to a special year for a fine Gurtagarry side who had also annexed a county football title earlier in the year.

The closing game of the finals saw Cappawhite NS deliver the complete team performance as they got the better of a determined Boher side. Cappawhite were a very well balanced team and they had stars all over the field. Two early goals from fine ground strokes by Jamie Buckley calmed their early nerves and left the Boher boys with a mountain to climb. When Sean Cleary blasted a ball to the roof of the Boher net, the large Cappawhite crowd dared to dream that this might just be their day. The second half followed a similar pattern with Cappawhite in fine shooting form. Nevertheless the Boher boys continued to battle and some superb performances from Jason Gleeson, Gearoid Rogers and Zak Egan will live long in the memory. This day belonged to Cappawhite however and they are no doubt basking in the glory as they reflect on what was a superb team performance.
