Medal presentations night

Our annual medal presentations took place on Sunday evening in the Horse & Jockey Hotel. It was a wonderful sight to see all the victorious captains with all the silverware on display. Prior to the commencement of the evening a moments silence was observed for the late Jackie Griffin a selector of Thurles Sarsfields victorious team, who died tragically on Saturday. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Amongst the huge turnout of parents and young players were Acting senior board PRO Joe Bracken, Mid senior board secretary Sally Young, Mid Coiste na Nog chairman Michael Bourke, Secretary Catherine Gleeson, PRO Morgan Lanigan, treasurer Mary Shelly and delegate Martin Treacy, South Coiste na Nog chairman Tom O’Leary, secretary Ann Fleming, North Coiste na Nog secretary Catherine McTiernan and West Coiste na Nog chairman Tommy Landers.

PRO Neil Ryan performed as MC and welcomed everyone before inviting our chairman Tom Dawson to address the gathering. In his address Tom had great praise for all the clubs who participated in all the various competitions and thanked all the divisional boards for their cooperation in getting such a busy fixture list finished on time. He welcomed our guest Noel McGrath and wished him every success in the coming year and concluded in acknowledging his fellow officers.

Secretary Ann McGrath and treasurer Catherine Gleeson did a fantastic job in having all the awards in sequence thereby speeding up the presentations. Our guest for the evening was Tipperary renowned hurler Noel McGrath from the Loughmore Castleiney club. Noel who needed no introduction as he has achieved every honour that can be bestowed, is an inspirational figure to any young player. In his address he had lovely words of encouragement for all the young captains present and told them to appreciate what they had achieved so far and never take anything for granted. He presented all the wards throughout the evening.

We also had our Under 15 County Hurling panel that were victorious in a shield competition in Clare. to receive their medals. The chairman in his closing address thanked all for such a wonderful turnout and invited all to enjoy the refreshments that were available
