The deferred Munster Final of Scór na nÓg 2016 took place in Cappoquin Co Waterford on Sunday last. Competitors from all 6 counties graced the stage in what was an excellent and exceptional display of talent. Bean of Tí for the evening was our own Marie Floyd from the Newport club – Cailín oilte, deisbhéalach, líofa. Bhí sí ar fheabhas mar láithreoir.
Tipperary were represented in 5 of the 7 Scór disciplines – Rince Foirne, Amhránaíocht Aonair, Leiriú, Bailead Ghrúpa agus Rince Seit agus bhí na hiomaitheoirí uile thar barr. As usual they brought honour and glory to club, parish and county. Heartfelt appreciation to all concerned and their hard working mentors. It was wonderful to see all our supporters turning out yet again to encourage and cheer on all our young people.
There was great excitement at the announcement of the All-Ireland Finalists when Borris-Ileigh and Portroe were hailed Munster champions in Amhránaíocht Aonair and Bailéad Ghrúpa respectively. Comghairdeas libh uile. These young ladies will compete in the All-Ireland Final of Scór na nÓg in the INEC in Killarney on January 30th. No doubt they will represent us with aplomb.
Borris-Ileigh’s young actors and actresses and Newcastle’s dancers (figure and set) will no doubt be disappointed but their exhibitions of all that is best of Irish culture, song and dance were performances to be proud of. Go néirí libh. Beidh lá eile agaibh.
