Press Release – Liam Cahill steps down as Tipperary U20 hurling manager

Following the completion of his 2-year term as Tipperary U20/21 hurling manager, Liam Cahill has decided not to seek an extension to his tenure and steps away after a hugely successful spell in charge. Since 2015, as manager to Tipperary U20/21 and minor panels, he has led Tipperary to four All-Ireland finals winning three, this years’ inaugural U20 title, the last U21 title in 2018 and a minor crown in 2016, as well as Munster U20 winners in 2019 and back to back Munster minor titles in 2015 and ’16.

Through his drive and dedication, Liam has raised the bar to new heights at underage level in the county, where his passion and enthusiasm for the game was replicated by the way his various teams went about their business on the field of play.

Tipperary County Board thank Liam and his management team profusely for the wonderful contribution they have given to the county over the years and the ensuing successes achieved as a result and wish Liam continued success in his managerial career.

Tipperary Co. Board chairman, John Devane said, “Liam Cahill is a man of great honour and commitment and it was a pleasure to witness first-hand his astute attention to detail in delivering success for Tipperary. He steps away with a hugely impressive CV at underage level and I have no doubt he will continue to add to it in his managerial career, and I wish him every success in that. Tipperary is indebted to Liam, his wife Eimear and family, for his contribution over the past five years.”
