John was born on July 28th 1994 and plays for the Loughmore-Castleiney club. John played Minor Hurling for Tipperary from 2010 to 2012, winning Munster and All-Ireland medals in 2012. John also played Minor Football for Tipperary in 2011 and 2012, winning two Munster medals and an All-Ireland Minor Football medal in 2011. John was part of the Tipperary Under 21 Football panel in 2014 and 2015 and the Tipperary Under 21 Hurling panel in 2013 and 2014. John won Fitzgibbon Cup medals with the University of Limerick in 2015 and 2018. John made his National League debut for Tipperary at corner-forward versus Galway in February 2015, scoring two points from play. John made his Championship debut at corner-forward, scoring a point in the 2016 Munster Senior Hurling Quarter-Final victory over Cork.  John won a Munster Senior Hurling medal in 2016, scoring 3-2 in a man of the match performance against Waterford. John went on to win All-Ireland Senior Hurling medals in 2016, scoring 1-3 in the final versus Kilkenny and in 2019, scoring 0.3 again against Kilkenny. At club level, John has won two County Senior Football Championships with Loughmore in 2013 and 2014 and a County Senior Hurling Championship medal in 2013. John won an All-Star award at corner-forward in 2016.
