Dan was born on January 28th 1993 and plays for the Borris-Ileigh GAA club. Dan was part of the Tipperary Minor Hurling panel from 2009 to 2011 and the Tipperary Under 21 Hurling panel from 2012 to 2014. Dan has won two Fitzgibbon Cup medals with UCC in 2013 and 2014, lining out in the half-forward line in both finals. Dan helped his club to win the Kilmacud Hurling 7s title in 2015. In 2019 Dan was part of the Borris-Ileigh team that won County and Munster club titles.  Dan was called in to the Tipperary Senior Hurling panel in 2015, making the 26-man squad for the All-Ireland semi-final versus Galway. Dan made his National Hurling League debut in February 2016, lining out at wing-forward versus Dublin. Dan made his Senior Championship debut at centre-forward in the 2016 Munster Senior Hurling Quarter-Final victory over Cork. Dan won a Munster Senior Hurling medal in 2016, lining out at wing-forward in the final versus Waterford. Dan won an All-Ireland Senior Hurling medal in 2016, scoring a point from play from wing-forward in the final versus Kilkenny. In 2019 Dan won his second All Ireland title lining out at wing forward in the final again against Kilkenny. Dan was nominated for an All-Star award in 2016.
