Barry was born on August 26th, 1995 and played for the Nenagh Eire Óg club. Barry played with the Tipperary Minor Hurlers in 2011, 2012 and 2013, winning Munster and All-Ireland medals in 2012. Barry was part of the Tipperary Under 21 Hurling panel in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Barry won a Fitzgibbon Cup medal in 2018 playing with University of Limerick. Barry won Munster Senior Hurling medals in 2015 and 2016 and an All-Ireland Senior Hurling medal in 2016. In 2019 Barry lined out at left corner back as Tipperary defeated Kilkenny in the final. His performances in the 2019 championship earned him an All Star nomination that year.
