North U-21 B Hurling Final
The Walsh’s of Nenagh North Tipp Under 21 ‘B’ Hurling Final between Borrisokane and Ballinahinch Gaels will be played next Sunday in Puckane. Please note the starting time of 1.30pm
This is a novel pairing as far as North Under-21 B Hurling finals go. Novel, in the sense that neither team won a final up to now. Yes, Borrisokane reaped honours under the guise of Erin’s Hope (Borrisokane/Knockshegowna) back in 1996 while Newport who are now part of the Ballinahinch Gaels set up were winners in 2003. In addition, Erin’s Hope won two Under -21 A titles in 1989, ’91 and Borrisokane brought home the honours in 1960 with the help of five Shannon Rovers players.
Both teams survived their semi-final journeys with Borrisokane defeating Portroe by 4-19 to 1-14 and Ballinahinch Gaels defeating Moneygall/Clonakenny by 4-14 to 2-14. There is no shortage with scores as both semi finals testified. In fact high scoring has been the order of the day as the path to the final shows.
