Centenary Agri Mid Senior Hurling Championship
This weekend sees the commencement of the Centenary Agri Mid Senior Hurling championship with Moycarkey Borris taking on JK Brackens in Holycross on Sunday at 3.30pm. This game promises to be a tight affair between two clubs who now know that to progress in the County Senior championship they will need to win their divisional title
Gleeson Quarries Mid Senior Football Championship:
This weekend also sees the Mid Senior Football semi final been played between Drom-Inch and Loughmore Castleiney in Templemore at 7pm. This is a repeat of the 2015 Mid final which was won narrowly by Loughmore Castleiney and Drom Inch will be gunning to avenge that defeat.
Inter county Action:
Well done to Michael Ryan and his Tipperary Senior hurling side who qualified for the Munster Semi final against Limerick following their victory over Cork last weekend. Well done also to William Maher and his Intermediate side who defeated Cork also last weekend. This weekend it is the turn of the Tipperary Footballers who face Waterford in Fraher Field in Dungarvan on Sunday at 3.30pm while the Tipperary Junior footballers play in the curtain raiser.
Mid Junior Hurling Leagues:
With all the group rounds of the 3 leagues now played the finalists are now known for the 3 divisions. In Division 1 Loughmore and Holycross lead the way with 6 points with Thurles Sarsfields in third place on 5 points they all have a game to be played yet from previous rounds so depending on these games it looks like it will be a combination of these 3 teams in the final. In division 2 it is much more clear cut with Upperchurch Drombane finishing second behind Gortnahoe Glengoole while in Division 3 Clonakenny top the group with maximum points and will meet Thurles Gaels who defeated Killea in their final game to secure the final spot.
A Mile for Martin:
Friends, work colleagues, clubmates and neighbours of the late Martin Ferncombe, Gaile are organising a fundraising walk in his honour and in support of his family at Gaile National School on Sunday, 29th May at 12 noon. There has been a huge response to this initiative so far, not only within the local Boherlahan area, but also in Ronaynes Hardware, Thurles, where Martin worked for almost 2 decades, and in Cashel Rugby Club and Holycross-Ballycahill GAA and Camogie Club where he played such a popular and valued coaching role for many years. Everyone young and old is welcome to come and walk ‘A Mile for Martin’ on the day. Donations will be accepted at the event, with Registrations opening at 11:30. There will be ample parking in the field across from Gaile NS, and refreshments for all afterwards. Every possible support would be greatly appreciated. For more information, or if you or your company would like to donate before the event, please contact any of the above or ring 087-9663959.
