Under 21 Football:
This Saturday sees the first of the division’s finals take place when Gortnahoe Glengoole face Upperchurch Drombane in the Mid Under 21 B football final in Kickham Park Thurles at 1.30. Gortnahoe Glengoole will go into the game as slight favourites following coming through the round robin stage undefeated but Upperchurch Dromabane will look to their intercounty players Jack Butler and Paul Shanahan to try and bring home the silverware. Saturday also sees the first of the A grade semi finals take place when Holycross Ballycahill take on Drom-Inch in the Ragg at 3pm. The scheduled Loser Group Final scheduled for last Saturday will take place this weekend when Moycarkey Borris face JK Brackens. See Mid fixtures for confirmation these fixtures.

County Challenge Cup:
There was a reduced schedule of games played in the first round of the County Challenge Cup last weekend due to inclement weather, Thurles Sarsfields defeated JK Brackens 0-14 to 0-8, Holycross Ballycahill had a 2-11 to 0-6 win over Borrisokane while Drom-Inch defeated Moneygall by a score of 0-19 to 1-7. Meanwhile Moyne Templetuohy were defeated by Toomevara 2-12 to 3-15 while Boherlahan Dualla were beaten 1-17 to 1-8 by Ballingarry. Next weekend sees the remainder of games taking place to complete the first round. See County fixtures for details.

Colleges Action: There were plenty of representatives in action last weekend when the college’s finals were held in Limerick. In the Fitzgibbon Cup semi finals University of Limerick defeated city rivals Limerick Institute of Technology. Despite a goal from Clonakenny’s Willie Ryan for Limerick IT, the University side featuring Paul Maher and John McGrath prevailed to the final. In the other semi final, Waterford IT with Liam McGrath (Loughmore Castleiney) and Tomas Hamill (Moyne Templetuohy) defeated Cork IT who had Pat Ralph (Moycarkey Borris) in their side. As most will be aware, UL and WIT played out a thriller which ended level after extra time and will now go to a replay. Shane Kenny of Gortnahoe Glengoole captained IT Blanchardstown to the Division 3 colleges final against University of Liverpool while Myles Fitzgerald of Thurles Sarsfields played on the LIT Tipperary team who were defeated by eventual winners Trinity College Dublin in the semi final of the Ryan Cup
