County Challenge Cup: In round 2A of the County Challenge Cup there were victories for Thurles Sarsfields over Carrick Swan while Loughmore Castleiney defeated Ballingarry. Drom-Inch play Holycross Ballycahill on Tuesday while Upperchurch Drombane face Roscrea in the remaining fixtures. In Round 2B there were mixed fortunes for the Mid teams as Moycarkey Borris defeated Ballina by point while Moyne Templetuohy were defeated by Lorrha Dorrha. Boherlahan Dualla face Nenagh Eire Og on Tuesday morning in the remaining fixture of round 2B.
The quarter final draws have been made for the Sweeper Ryan, Jim Devitt, Dr Fogarty and James Holohan Cups.
In the Sweeper Ryan Cup Thurles Sarsfields face Clonoulty Rossmore, the winners of Holycross Ballycahill and Drom-Inch shall face either Portroe or Kilruane while Loughmore Castleiney await the winners of Upperchurch Drombane. In the Jim Devitt Cup, Borrisoleigh wait on the losers of Upperchurch Drombane and Roscrea while Silvermines await the losers of Drom-Inch and Holycross Ballycahill. In the Dr Fogarty Cup, Moycarkey Borris await the winners of Nenagh Eire Og and Boherlahan Dualla. Meanwhile in the James Holohan Cup, JK Brackens face the losers of Eire Og Annacarty and Knockavilla Kickhams while Borrisokane face the losers of Nenagh Eire Og and Boherlahan Dualla. Moyne Templetuohy have a bye into the semi final.
Minor Football Championship: The Mid minor football championship begins the last weekend of the month. Further details shall be included next week.
Munster Under 21 Football Championship: Tipperary will play Clare in the EirGrid GAA Football Under 21 Munster Championship Semi-Final on Wednesday March 18th at 7:30pm in Semple Stadium Thurles. We wish the players and management the best of luck especially the Mid representatives.
Fitzgibbon Cup: Well done to Paul Maher (Moyne Templetuohy) and John McGrath (Loughmore Castleiney) and their University of Limerick colleagues as they won the Fitzgibbon Cup following a replay with Waterford Institute of Technology. Commiserations to Tomas Hamill (Moyne Templetuohy) and Liam McGrath (Loughmore Castleiney) who were part of the Waterford IT team.
Knock GAA Fun 5K run:
Knock GAA club will hold a 5K fun run on Sunday 22nd March beginning in Knock village starting at 12.30pm. Walkers, Joggers, Runners and kids are all welcome. Medals for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in Men, women and kids categories. Registration shall be from 11.45am on the day. €10 entry per adult and kids go free! There will be light refreshments served after the race and all proceeds are in aid of Knock GAA club.
Easter Bonnet Fun Walk:
There will be an Easter bonnet fun walk taking place Friday 3rd April (Good Friday) taking place in the Ragg around Inch Loop Walk. Registration (Voluntary Donations) shall take place in Drom-Inch GAA grounds from 11.30am with proceeds in aid of Suir Haven Centre Thurles. There will be refreshments afterwards in the clubhouse. This is a very worthwhile charity and the adjudication of best bonnet shall by members of the Tipperary Senior hurling team.
