Mid Tipperary GAA Scene – April 25th 2016

County Senior Hurling Championship Round up
There was a full round of fixtures in the County Senior hurling championship and from a Mid point of view there were some interesting results. County Champions Thurles Sarsfields were too good for Roscrea and won by 2-26 to 1-8, while Drom-Inch and JK Brackens could not be separated at full time in which they played out a 2-12 apiece draw. It finished all square in the same group game between Upperchurch Drombane and Killenaule 1-17 to 0-20. Meanwhile in Roinn 2, there were defeats for both Clonakenny and Moycarkey Borris at the hands of Ballina and Carrick Swans while in the other all Mid tie Holycross Ballycahill emerged victorious over Moyne Templetuohy by 1-14 to 0-7.

County Intermediate Hurling Championship:
There were 4 Mid teams in County Intermediate action over the weekend with mixed results for the divisional sides, Gortnahoe Glengoole were simply too good for Carrick Davins as they ran out 2-20 to 0-7 winners while Drom-Inch snatched a draw against Newport with an injury time goal. Moycarkey Borris and Boherlahan Dualla were defeated by Galtee Rovers and Moyle Rovers respectively.

Mid Junior Hurling Leagues:
This weekend seen several games played across the 3 divisions of the leagues. In Division 1 of the league there was a victory for Thurles Sarsfields over by Loughmore Castleiney by 1-11 to 1-10. On Tuesday evening Drom Inch play host to Holycross Ballycahill in the Ragg at 7pm. In Division 2, there were wins for Thurles Gaels and Upperchurch Drombane over Gortnahoe Glengoole and Thurles Sarsfields respectively. Next weekend there are 2 games as Thurles Gaels face Moycarkey Borris in Kickham Park on Sunday while Upperchurch Drombane face Gortnahoe Glengoole on Monday in Drombane. While in Division 3, there was a win for Killea over Knock last Wednesday while Thurles Gaels and Gortnahoe played out a draw on Saturday in Kickham Park. There are 2 games down for next Friday evening as Killea host Clonakenny and Gortnahoe Glengoole play host to Knock. Both games throw in at 7pm.

Munster Minor Hurling Championship:
Hard Luck to the Tipperary Minor Hurlers who were defeated by Waterford in the Munster Play off in Walsh Park on Saturday last. They now face Clare in Ennis in what is now a “must win” game if they are to defend their Munster title.

Munster Minor Football Championship:
Commiserations to the Tipperary Minor footballers who were defeated by Limerick in the Munster Quarter final in Semple Stadium on Wednesday last by 0-11 to 3-8.

Tom O Hara U21 Hurling tournament:
This Monday, the Gortnahoe Glengoole GAA club host the Tom O Hara tournament which will be played between Tipperary U21 and Kilkenny U21. Throw in is scheduled for 6.30pm and we would encourage all to support this event. Admission is just €5 and u16s go free.

Mid Minor B Football Semi finals:
Following Upperchurch Drombane’s victory over Boherlahan Dualla the semi final pairings are now known and will see Moyne Templetuohy/ Thurles Gaels face Boherlahan Dualla while Drom-Inch will face Upperchurch Drombane. Both these games are pencilled in for Wednesday 4th May.
