Tipperary Minor footballers completed their Leinster League preliminary round games on a winning note in Ardee on Wednesday night last with a well deserved three point margin victory over Louth on a score line of, 1-11 to 1-8. Played on a perfect pitch for football Tipp made the ideal start with a Paul Maher point followed by a goal by Jamie Bergin inside five minutes before Louth came back to level with fifteen minutes gone. Showing a marked improvement on their previous two outings, Tipp continued to make possession pay off with three further points by Paul Maher and one by Phelim O’Hagan leaving Tipp ahead by the minimum margin at the break, 1-5 to 1-4.
Louth hit back to level inside a minute of the resumption but two points by Clonmel Commercials Padraig White and one by Galtee Rvs Darren McGrath had Tipp three up and on course for victory. Louth again replied narrowing the gap with two points but their would be no slip up by Tipp as Padraig White with two points and one by club mate Jack Kennedy sealed a well deserved three point win.
