Hurling preview night
By Jackie Cahill
WITH the 2014 hurling season set for a gripping climax, join four of the game’s biggest names at Cahir House Hotel in county Tipperary next Friday evening, August 8, for an exclusive GAA event (8pm).
On the weekend when Kilkenny do battle with Limerick in the first All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final, Tipperary’s Brendan Cummins, Kilkenny’s DJ Carey, Cork’s Tomas Mulcahy and Limerick’s Joe Quaid will gather to discuss what lies in store for the remainder of the campaign.
The views of the participants will be particularly interesting as they represent four the counties left in the race for the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
Two-time All-Ireland SHC medallist Brendan Cummins, who kept goal for the best part of two decades, will sum up the mood in the Premier County as Eamon O’Shea’s team prepare to lock horns with Cork on Sunday week, August 17.
In the red corner, former Cork star Tomas Mulcahy, a three-time All-Ireland senior medallist, will argue the case for the reigning Munster champions.
Carey, a nine-time Allstar and holder of five All-Ireland senior medals, is confident that Kilkenny can reclaim the title while Limerick’s former goalkeeper Joe Quaid believes that the Shannonsiders can gatecrash the party.
Tipperary man Jackie Cahill will facilitate this questions and answers session and at half-time, a raffle will take place for some wonderful prizes.
Entry on the night is €10 and all money raised goes to the ‘Make a Wish’ Foundation.
