Celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge with the GAA

That special time of the year has arrived again and the GAA are looking forward to celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge and Irish language once again. We would like to invite GAA members and clubs from all over Ireland and, indeed, all over the globe to join with us in celebrating this festival and in using and practicing whatever Irish they have in whatever way they can between now and the 17th of March, St. Patrick’s Day.

There will be a lot happening on gaa.ie during the festival and we invite you to keep up to date with everything on the Irish section of the website HERE.

Among the various events and activities we have planned are competitions for primary and secondary schools as well as a competition for older teenagers and adults – all in conjunction with O’Neills (www.oneills.com). We will have GAA feature articles, a podcast in conjunction with an Spota Dubh, other activities for primary and secondary schools, a Scór concert, the latest edition of the GAA’s Irish language magazine, ‘Cuaille’, Lá Idirnáisiúnta na mBan and lots, lots more!

Keep an eye out, also, on Ulster GAA’s social media platforms where there will be specially issued videos with Ulster Gaels. Ulster GAA’s new Irish language podcast will also be launched where Ulster’s Oifigeach Gaeilge, Tricia Ní Chearra, will be chatting to different people about their experiences with the Irish language, the GAA and about general lifestyle issues.

Unfortunately, we cannot come together for Seachtain na Gaeilge this year, but we can take part in the festival by taking part in the online events and also by using whatever Irish we have on social media by joining in the conversation at #SnaG21 and #GAAgaeilge!

The GAA are proud to have Limerick All-Ireland winning captain, and one of the GAA’s Fáinne Ambassadors, named as one of this year’s Seachtain na Gaeilge Ambassadors. Famous singer, Imelda May, and radio and television broadcaster Bláthnaid Treacy are the other Ambassadors.

Seachtain na Gaeilge will take place this year between the 1st and 17th of March and further information can be got on Seachtain na Gaeilge’s website HERE
