The inaugural Bulmers Tipperary GAA Jubilee Golf Classic proved to be a tremendous success on Friday as supporters, former players, sponsors and friends of Tipperary GAA gathered at Thurles Golf Club for what was a memorable day both on and off the course.
Held as part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of Tipperary’s unforgettable 2001 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship success, the event attracted a fantastic entry and created a wonderful atmosphere throughout the day.
Familiar faces – James Seymour, Noel Morris, John Carroll, Tommy Dunne, Tomas Costello, John Sheedy & Donnacha Fahey at Thurles Golf Club.
A host of well-known sporting personalities took to the fairways, including Tipperary hurling legends Seamus Callanan, Brendan Maher, Pádraic Maher, Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher, Paddy Stapleton, Nicky English, Eamonn Corcoran, Declan Ryan and Jack Bergin. They were joined by many familiar faces from the wider sporting world, including RTÉ presenter Des Cahill and former Munster and Ireland rugby international Alan Quinlan, adding to what was a truly special occasion.

With ideal playing conditions and Thurles Golf Club presented in magnificent condition, participants enjoyed a day filled with great golf, friendly competition and an opportunity to renew old friendships while celebrating one of the greatest teams in Tipperary GAA history.
Following the completion of play, a large crowd gathered in the clubhouse where the day’s prize presentation took place. The prizes were presented by special guest Johnny B of The 2 Johnnies, whose wit and humour helped bring a fantastic day’s proceedings to a fitting conclusion.

The organising committee extends its sincere gratitude to Bulmers, whose generous sponsorship played a key role in making the event such a resounding success. Their support was instrumental in delivering a first-class occasion worthy of celebrating one of Tipperary GAA’s greatest teams.

A heartfelt thank you is also extended to everyone who entered a team, attended the event, volunteered their time and supported the Golf Classic in any way. Special appreciation is due to the management and staff of Thurles Golf Club for presenting the course in outstanding condition and for the warm welcome and hospitality shown to all throughout the day.
The success of the event was the result of months of dedicated planning by an organising committee led by 2001 All-Ireland winning captain Tommy Dunne, alongside Noel Morris, Conor Gleeson and Jack Bergin. Their commitment, together with the support of the wider Jubilee committee, sponsors and volunteers, ensured that every aspect of the day was delivered to the highest standard.

Following the overwhelming success of this year’s event, there is already considerable enthusiasm for making the Bulmers Tipperary GAA Jubilee Golf Classic an annual fixture on the Tipperary GAA calendar. Friday’s event showcased everything that is great about the Tipperary GAA community—friendship, pride, generosity and a shared appreciation of the county’s rich sporting heritage.
The Golf Classic not only celebrated the achievements of the 2001 All-Ireland champions but also created new memories that will live long in the minds of all who attended, ensuring the Jubilee celebrations have got off to the perfect start.
