Tipperary defeated London by 1-19 to 1-7 in round 3 of the Allianz Football League Division 4 on Sunday March 2nd at Ruislip.
Sweeney leads from front for rampant Tipp
Tipperary 1-19 London 1-7
Report from the Irish Independent newspaper
CONOR Sweeney hit nine points as Tipperary demolished London in Ruislip. The corner-forward led the attack for the clinical visitors. In terrible pitch conditions, Tipp took the game to London from the first play, forcing a point-blank save from Declan Traynor in the opening minute. The Exiles opened the scoring through Mark Gottsche, but it was to be the only time London led as Tipp and Sweeney exerted control.
By half-time, the visitors led by 1-8 to 0-2 and London looked a pale shadow of the team that stormed Connacht last summer. They did have chances through the first half and Sean Hickey gave them hope when he slammed home a penalty on 42 minutes but this served only as a brief respite as Tipp continued to sweep forward. “We came here to get two points and 1-19 is good scoring,” said manager Peter Creedon.
