Cahir (Tipperary) 0-14 Eyrecourt (Galway) 1-2
From Daragh Ó Conchúir at Croke Park
Having known final heartbreak last December, Cahir enjoyed redemption with a commanding display as they won the AIB All-Ireland intermediate club camogie title. A total of 17 members of the panel were involved when Cahir lost the intermediate ladies football decider by two points last December but they got to experience the other end of the spectrum with this nine-point victory over Eyrecourt.
Eyrecourt tried hard and a goal early in the second half from substitute Vivien McEvoy gave them some hope but inspired by the outstanding Aishling Moloney, Cahir, who were playing junior B camogie just four years ago, pulled clear once more.
Moloney provided five points from play but she was well supported by full-forward Róisin Howard, captain Aisling McCarthy and full-back Aoife Casey in a generally dominant team performance. Eyrecourt never really got going and their struggles were illustrated by the need to bring their skipper, Molly Dunne out from the full-forward in a bid to gain more possession. The All-Star managed to do that but her threat on the edge of the opposition square was sorely missed.
Cahir put their stamp on proceedings from the throw-in and had three points on the board after four minutes, Moloney firing the opener and Howard following with a brace. Dunne shot a response but it was Eyrecourt’s only score of the first half, while the dominant Tipperary women doubled their tally, the highlight being a 60m effort from Moloney.

It was 0-6 to 0-1 at the interval and though McEvoy’s goal came just two minutes after the resumption, they just could not create enough danger. While goalkeeper, Orla McEniry made one excellent save and Dunne thundered a late thunderous shot off their crossbar from free, Cahir always looked comfortable. Tellingly, they scored six consecutive points after conceding the goal to put the game to bed. Moloney continued to be unerring, while McCarthy finished excellently after a wonderful move to cement the supremacy of Marie Casey’s side.
