Mid Under 21 Hurling Championship
There were 2 games played last weekend with Thurles Sarsfields defeating Drom-Inch by 3-12 to 0-10 in the A grade while Moyne Templetuohy Og defeated 3-29 to 1-13.
County Minor B Hurling Semi final:
Hard Luck to Loughmore Castleiney who were defeated by North champions Clonakenny/Moneygall in the county semi final last weekend. They now turn their attention to the County football final where they face Clonoulty Rossmore in Holycross at 2pm on Saturday next.
Mid Tipperary Primary Schools Table Quiz:
Well done to St Colmcilles, Templemore who finished 1st in the Mid Tipperary Primary School’s GAA quiz. The team of Mikey Delaney, Luke Ormond, Ned Delaney, Ciaran McCormack emerged victorious and go forward to the county final on December 6th. They will also be joined by Holycross N.S (2nd) Joe Ceaser, Tadgh Gould, Caoimhe McGrath, Michelle Dwan, Upperchurch N.S (3rd) Canice Ryan, Pat Ryan, Jim O Dwyer, Paddy Phelan, Gaelscoil Bhride, Thurles (4th) Niamh Ni Sheannchain, Dara Staiclum, Jack O Fogartaigh, Eoin O Cradog and Scoil Ailbhe, Thurles (5th) Jack O Meara, Niall Dunne, Sean Costello, Stephen Mawe in the county final in December. The board would like to thank special guest on the night Noel McGrath who presented the awards.
Lar Corbett Retirement:
Last week saw another great player to don the Blue and Gold hang up his playing as Thurles Sarsfields’ Lar Corbett joined Conor O Mahoney, James Woodlock and Shane McGrath in retirement. Corbett who served his county over a career which spanned 15 years will be best remembered for his fantastic display in scoring 3 goals against rivals Kilkenny in the 2010 All Ireland final after which he would be named Hurler of the Year.Year. Lar was also a member of the Tipperary side which won the All Ireland in 2001. Lar was nominated for All-Star awards in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011,winning an All-Star at right half forward in 2009, at left-half forward in 2010 and at full-forward in 2011. We wish Lar the very best of luck in his retirement.
