FBD Insurance County Hurling Championships
The FBD Insurance County Hurling Championships are now in full swing with Round 2 completed across all three grades last weekend.
Senior Hurling
In Group 1, Thurles Sarsfields edged neighbours Holycross Ballycahill by two points while Kilruane MacDonaghs produced a late show to secure a thrilling one point victory over Upperchurch Drombane. In Group 2, Moycarkey Borris got the better of Clonoulty Rossmore to make it back to back wins while North champions Borris-Ileigh defeated reigning county champions Loughmore Castleiney. Group 3 produced two games that went right down to the wire. Cashel King Cormacs finished strongly to secure a one point victory over Kiladangan while Drom & Inch also edged Roscrea by a single point. JK Brackens continued their good form in Group 4 with victory over Toomevara while Nenagh Éire Óg recorded a comfortable win over CJ Kickhams Mullinahone.

Premier Intermediate Hurling
In Group 1, Gortnahoe Glengoole got the better of Silvermines while Moyne Templetuohy impressed with victory over Sean Treacys. Group 2 saw St Mary’s defeat South rivals Carrick Swan while Killenaule impressed with a strong victory over Thurles Sarsfields. In Group 3, Burgess comfortably defeated Templederry Kenyons while Lorrha Dorrha recorded victory over Moneygall. In Group 4, Golden Kilfeacle held out for victory over Boherlahan Dualla while a last minute point earned Ballina a draw with Éire Óg Annacarty Donohill.

Intermediate Hurling
In Group 1, Kilsheelan Kilcash recorded an excellent victory over Portroe while Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams got the better of neighbours Clonoulty Rossmore. Group 2 saw Arravale Rovers hold out for a hard earned victory over Shannon Rovers while Clonakenny defeated Carrick Davins. In Group 3, Holycross Ballycahill earned a draw against Skeheenarinky while Ballingarry recorded a good win over Cappawhite. In Group 4, Borrisokane secured a strong win over Newport while Moyle Rovers defeated Ballybacon Grange.

Round 3 will take place on the weekend of August 22nd/23rd with the race for knockout places intensifying. With relegation also at stake, there is plenty on the line across all groups.
FBD Insurance County Football Championships
The focus shifts back to the FBD Insurance County Football Championships this coming weekend with a full programme of fixtures across the Senior, Intermediate and Premier Junior grades. In the Senior Championship, holders Clonmel Commercials take on Ballina with both sides coming into the game on the back of opening round victories. Elsewhere in group 1 – Aherlow face Ardfinnan.
In Group 2, Thurles Sarsfields meet Kilsheelan Kilcash while Ballingarry take on JK Brackens. Group 3 sees Grangemockler Ballyneale face Loughmore-Castleiney while Upperchurch Drombane take on Moyle Rovers.
In the Intermediate Championship, Éire Óg Annacarty Donohill and Fethard meet after their opening round fixture was abandoned. In Round 2, Éire Óg take on Rockwell Rovers while Fethard face Cahir. Group 2 sees Clonmel Commercials take on Killenaule with Clonmel Óg facing Moyne Templetuohy. Group 3 features an all West clash between Galtee Rovers St Pecaun and Golden Kilfeacle while Arravale Rovers take on Moycarkey-Borris.
In the Premier Junior Championship, the postponed Round 1 fixture between Loughmore Castleiney and Sean Treacys takes place. In Round 2, the Treacys face CJ Kickhams Mullinahone while Loughmore Castleiney take on Carrick Swan. The remaining Group 1 fixture sees Borrisokane face JK Brackens. In Group 2, Clonoulty Rossmore take on Fr Sheehys while Moyle Rovers have a bye.

Entry to all venues is by Tap & Go but purchasing tickets beforehand will help avoid delays at the gate. ArraTipp & John Doyle All-Ireland U15 Hurling Tournament
North Tipperary plays host to this year’s ArraTipp and John Doyle All Ireland Under 15 Hurling Tournament on Saturday August 15th.
Seventeen counties will travel to the Premier County for what has become one of the most prestigious fixtures on the underage hurling calendar as county Under 15 squads compete for Cup and Shield honours across a range of competitions.
MacDonagh Park in Nenagh will stage the ArraTipp A Cup action with Tipperary Blue facing Kilkenny in the Semi Final at 12.30 pm. The winners will meet either Waterford or Limerick who contest the other Semi Final for a place in the decider.
Earlier that morning, attention turns to Roscrea, where Tipperary Gold take on Wexford in the ArraTipp B Cup Final, throwing in at 10.30 am. Supporters are being encouraged to get behind the county’s young hurlers by making the trip to both venues – Roscrea first, then on to Nenagh.
Borrisoleigh and Toomevara will host the John Doyle A and B competitions, a tournament that has built a reputation over the years for competitive, entertaining hurling.
Tipperary Bord na nÓg has extended its thanks to ArraTipp and John Doyle for their ongoing support of the competition, which over the years has attracted many players who have gone on to wear their county’s senior jersey. This year is expected to be no exception.

Tipperary GAA is inviting expressions of interest for the positions of Tipperary Minor Hurling Manager and Tipperary Minor Football Manager for the 2027 season.
Applicants for the Minor Hurling Manager position are requested to submit their name and CV by email to info.tipperary@gaa.ie no later than 5.00 pm on Monday August 17th 2026.
Applicants for the Minor Football Manager position should submit their name and CV by email to secretary.football.tipperary@gaa.ie no later than 5.00 pm on Thursday August 13th 2026.

Handball News by Paddy Collins (PRO)
The Wallball Munster Championships were hosted by Conna in Cork at the weekend with Tipperary well represented across a number of grades. Tipperary players reached six finals, winning three. In the Girls U14, Emily Monaghan defeated Cork’s Mia Buckley in the final. In the Girls U16, Katelyn Ryan Dempsey was unlucky to lose to Cork’s Ruth Daly in a tie-break, 11-9. The Ladies Junior B Final was an all-Tipperary affair, with Siobhan Prentice defeating Ann Marie Ryan to claim the title. In the Masters Singles Final, Christy McGrath was defeated by Kerry’s Dominic Lynch, while in the Diamond Masters, Martin Spain defeated Kerry’s Brendan O’Donoghue 11-3 in a tie-break. In the Ladies Challenger Final, Noreen Vaughan was beaten by Kerry’s Aoife O’Donoghue. Síle Spain reached the semi-final of the Ladies Junior B, while Adam Ryan and Oran Farrell competed in the U14 grade. We wish Emily Monaghan, Siobhan Prentice and Martin Spain the very best of luck when they take on the Ulster champions at the end of the month.
Munster GAA Club Development Grants Scheme Opens
Munster GAA has launched its 2026 Club Development Grants Scheme, with applications now open to clubs across the province until 28th August.
The €1.5 million scheme, funded in partnership with GAA Central Council, will support a wide range of club development projects including pitch development, changing rooms, floodlighting, gyms, hurling walls, spectator facilities, accessibility improvements, land acquisition and handball facilities.
Munster GAA Chairperson Tim Murphy encouraged all eligible clubs with development plans to apply, highlighting the scheme as an important investment in the future of clubs and their communities.
Applications must be submitted through the online portal on the Munster GAA website with successful grants due to be announced in October.

2026 Tipperary Club Season Pass
The 2026 Tipperary GAA club season pass is now on sale and can be purchased via the events section of the Tipperary GAA App. The pass which will entitle the holder entry into all adult divisional and county games at adult level will cost €170.
GAA Regional Youth Forums
The Gaelic Games Associations are inviting young members aged 12 to 21 to attend the GAA Regional Youth Forums taking place in September. The forums will give young people the opportunity to have their say on the future of Gaelic games through discussion, debate and interactive workshops.
This year, the Youth Forum is coming to regional venues, with The Dome, FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles, hosting a forum on Sunday September 6th from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm.
The forums have been developed by the National GAA Youth Committee and will help shape the future direction of the Association.
Young people are encouraged to attend and have their voices heard. Further information, including registration details, is available on the GAA Youth Forum page on the GAA website.
