FBD Insurance County Championships
Round 2 of the FBD Insurance County Senior and Intermediate Football championships took place last weekend and some very entertaining games were played right across the county in weather conditions one would associate with the south of Spain rather than the Premier County. In a once off move the County Competitions Control reintroduced water breaks in all games so as to make sure that all involved would stay hydrated. Prior to the commencement of all games a moments silence was observed as a mark of respect to Dillon Quirke who sadly passed away the previous weekend and in another show of solidarity, most clubs retired the number 11 jersey for the game.
On the field the action commenced on Friday evenine with two games in the senior championship and one game in the intermediate championship. In Golden the 2021 county senior football finalists Clonmel Commercials overcame a stern test from Upperchurch Drombane 2-11 to 0-09.
