Féile na Gael Official Launch
The John West Féile na nGael takes place from 17th to 19th June and is being hosted between Tipperary and Waterford. This national tournament is an annual festival encompassing Hurling, Camogie and Handball at U 14 level. It is a fantastic honour to host this auspicious event and welcome participants and their families from all over Ireland and beyond.
The ethos of Féile is to ensure that all players are given the opportunity to participate and play in their respective Féile tournaments. Clubs gain the experience of playing teams from other counties and also foster links and friendships within these clubs.
Féile weekend will see the host clubs in both Tipperary and Waterford welcome hundreds of people to their areas and to promote and show our facilities and localities to a wide audience. The National Launch of Féile will take place this Thursday 21st April at 7.00pm in Ballymacarbry Community Centre, Ballymacarbry nestled in the Nire Valley on the Waterford /Tipperary border.
This night of music, dance and celebration will showcase local talents from national schools of Newcastle Co. Tipperary and Ballymacarbry, Co Waterford as well as other local dignitaries. The Presidents of the G.A.A., Camogie and Handball Associations will also be in attendance. We encourage a large Tipperary presence at the Launch ,so each divisional officer board should ensure that their divisional clubs and officials are present

Our last inter divisional hurling tournament took place last Saturday in BorrisIleigh with the staging of the U14 Peadar Cummins Hurling tournament which was outstanding as a result of the weather conditions that prevailed over the previous weekends.
All involved with the BorrisIleigh Juvenile club have to be very highly commended for the manner they host this annual tournament held in the memory of a truly great gael, the late Peadar Cummins.
The following was the schedule for games
North V West Mid V South @10.30am
Mid V West North V South @11.45am
North V Mid West V South @1.00pm
Under breezy conditions the schedule commenced on time. In the mid v south encounter it was the mid boys that took command of proceedings in early part of the action. A pointed free inside the opening minute from Kyle Shelly and seven minute later one from play by Paudie Kinnane for a two point advantage. The mid appeared to be more in control. Then the south ventured towards the mid defence area and David Barry had the next shaking. Moments later the game came to a halt as mid forward John Campion was injured from a blow, but as the referee did not witness the cause no action could be taken. Upon the resumption the mid seemed to lose the impetus and just on the stroke of interval whistle the south struck goal number two.
In the second period the mid added three points towards the south’s’ two points to win the dual 2-02 to 0-05.
In the west v north contest no goals appeared as the west men held a slender lead at the interval 0-03 to 0-02. In the second period the west doubled their tally while just leaking a solitary point to win on a score of 0-06 to 0-03.
In the second round of games the mid and west played out an evenly contested affair during the opening period with the advantage to the West side at the interval 1-03 to 1-02. Upon the resumption the mid upped their performance scoring a further 1-03 while keeping their opponents scoreless to win 2-05 to 1-03.
In the game between the south and north the game was abandoned by the referee after eight minutes with the north ahead 1-01 to 0-01, due to abuse from the sideline. Upon the resumption the interval score read north 1-02 south 0-02.
In the second period the north added two more points while conceding just one to win the contest 1-05 to 0-03. In the last round of games all four teams had everything to play for as they were all square on the league board with a victory and a loss apiece
In the north v mid encounter it was a very evenly balance affair during the opening action with the north enjoying point advantage at the interval 0-02 to 0-01. In the second half the north appeared to be the most threatening but still were failing to stretch the margin of fives points to two. Then the mid attack were just two metres from the north goal and an almost certain goal appeared to be on the register but somehow the north defence got there averting the danger. The mid were trying their utmost but to no avail against a very determined north side and at the final whistle victory went to the north men 0-05 to 0-02.
In the other contest the margin between was similar at half time with the west in front by a solitary point 1-03 to 1-02. However this where the similarity disappeared as in the second period the west took over clocking up 2-01 while keeping a defensive clear sheet to win the contest 3-04 to 1-02. As per rule of the tournament even though the west and north were level on league points victory went to the west on the ruling that they had overcome the north in their head to head contest. It a sweet victory for the west as it was only their second triumph in this tournament to couple their victory in 2013.
Vice chairman Martin Bourke thanked all involved in BorrisIleigh club for the wonderful work their put into hosting the games and he acknowledged the referees Seamus Tynan, Jerry Treacy and Martin Griffin. He then presented the Peadar Cummins Perpetual Cup to west victorious captain Ben Loughman.
