Minor A Championship
Tipperary 0-18 Offaly 1-9
Our minor girls travelled down to Crinkle Co.Offaly last Sunday for their match against neighbours Offaly and continued their run of success with a hard fought win over the faithful county.
First score of the day came from the impressive Orla O’Dwyer who set up the attack and finished it with a fine point from play , both sides traded points but in the 9th minute Tipp hit a purple patch registering 5 points in succession before Offaly got their next score.
Both sets of forwards were doing well in attack and in the 27th minute Offaly got a badly needed goal but the girls replied with 2 more points before the break leaving the half time score Tipp 0-10 Offaly 1-06.
Tipp piled on the pressure in the 2nd half and seemed to find a couple more gears getting the next 4 scores before Offaly got their first score of the 2nd half from a free and followed that up with another point again from a free , again both sides traded points but the girls finished strong hitting 3 more points without reply and ran out winners by 6 points.
It was an impressive 2nd half performance by Tipp the defense stood strong and our attack was in fine form getting some great scores on the day with 8 different players getting on the score sheet so over all a good days work at the office and another win under the belt .
Scores for Tipp; Orla O’Dwyer 0-08, Grace O’Brien 0-04, Keely Linehan 0-01, Clare Stakelum 0-01, Eibhlis McDonald 0-01, Sinead Maher 0-01, Ciardha Maher 0-01 and substitute Jean Kelly who also had a fine game when introduced in the 2nd half 0-01.
U14 Blitz
Our U14 A and B panels travelled down to Limerick last Saturday for their first blitz of the year, both teams got off to a slow start but fair play to them they got stuck in and played some great camogie and qualified for their respective finals .
The B final was played first and the girls were up against Cork it was a very tight first half with little or nothing separating both sides but unfortunately Cork got the lucky breaks in the 2nd half and ran out winners in the end but the girls can be very proud of themselves and were a credit to the jersey so well done girls a brave effort.
The A final was against Limerick and again the girls were fantastic and in hard luck to be beaten by a single point and again they should be very proud of themselves especially after a tough semi-final win over Galway that went to extra time and with Limerick having a longer rest period than Tipp before the final that was probably the telling factor and no doubt had the girls a longer period of time to recover before the final the result might of been different, but well done to both panels and management it was a great achievement to reach both finals.
