“Tipperary Girls Star on Munster Girls Inter Provincial Success”
The Munster Girls-2016 40X20 Provincial Team Of Ten retained their All Ireland crown this weekend to record a remarkable four in a row All Ireland series of Titles. The 2016 event which took place in Kingscourt on Saturday May 9th in Kingscourt, saw Munster beat a very strong Leinster outfit in the Semi Final and then proceeded to take the overall honours against Ulster in the decider by thirty aces. The semi final against Leinster proved to be edge of the seat stuff, the Munster girls were three aces down going into the last doubles section but the U17 pairing of Sinead Meagher and Katie McCarthy pulled out all the stops to secure victory for the Munster team winning overall 87-70. In the Final against Ulster-the two younger grades at U13 and U14 laid down a very strong foundation to lead by 27 aces, going into very strong Ulster grades at the older levels. After the U15 and U16 games-Munster were up by 30 aces to leave the U17 girls in an excellent position to seal victory winning overall 95-64. All 12 girls on the panel played over the course of the two games-a credit to the management team in charge of the girls.
A lot of work and time goes into any All Ireland success, huge credit must go to the people in charge-Eamonn Spillane (Nenagh), Rose Mc Mahon and Pat Murphy ( Broadford) who have led the Munster Girls through some titanic struggles over the years. Many thanks to all the girls involved for their commitment and dedication over the last few weeks, clubs, coaches and parents for all their support and help.
