Michael won Munster and All-Ireland Minor Football medals with Tipperary in 2011. Michael played with the Tipperary Under 21 Footballers from 2012 through 2014 and made his Allianz Football League debut against Roscommon in February 2012. Michael made his Senior Football Championship debut v Kerry in May 2012 lining out at full-forward. Michael won the RTE man of the match award for his performance versus Galway in the 2016 All-Ireland Quarter-Final, scoring 1-4.
Michael won a Sigerson Cup medal with University College Cork in 2014, scoring a point in the final.
