Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Notes

All-Ireland Intermediate Championship
On Saturday July 28th Tipperary will go into the lion’s den and take on Sligo at home in what is a crucial game for both teams in the All-Ireland series. Over the past number of games Tipperary have had the upper hand in games against Sligo. The last meeting between these two teams was in the 2011 Div. 2 round 6 National League game played in Semple Stadium a game Tipperary won. Best of luck to the team and team management Sean, Eamon, Una, Elaine and Kay. This game is timed for 2 o clock on Sat in Kilcoyne Park in Tubbercurry, but may be brought forward to 1 o’clock to accommodate the traveling Tipperary team.

Under 16 Munster Final.
Tipperary will play Waterford in the Munster final on Sunday next July 29th at 12 o clock in Cahir. Big wins over Clare and Limerick in the early rounds but a loss to Waterford in the final round sets this game up as a winner take all game. Tipperary’s last game against Waterford was played in early May at a Waterford venue before the start of exams. The ability to keep a team fresh during the long layoff will be a big factor on the outcome of this game.  Tipperary have prepared well under Tony Fox and his fellow selectors. We wish them well and hopefully they can retain the Munster title they won last year.

Under 12 Blitzes
Munster Ladies Gaelic Football Association ran under 12 blitzes in three venues on Saturday last July 28th. Clonmel Og was one of the venues and 12 Tipperary clubs supplied 14 teams out of a total of 20 that took part. All clubs were very pleased with their morning’s football and the popular opinion was that more blitzes should be organised during the year. Templemore and Arravale Rovers travelled to the blitz in Mungret in Limerick City for their day out. Both reported to have been very pleased with the way the blitz was run and had a wonderful fun day of football. Our thanks to our Development Officer Siobhan Condon for all her work on the day and for having a huge turnout from Tipperary clubs. Well done to all the girls who took part and to their mentors for looking after them.

Under 10 Blitzes
The second round of our under 10 county blitz went ahead over the weekend in Templetuohy, Fethard, Sliabh Na mBan, Clonmel Commercials, Cappawhite and Aherlow. Once again the hospitality from the host clubs was excellent. Round 3 will be held betweenAug 1st and Aug 4th in Moycarkey,   Clonmel Og, Mullinahone, Brian Borus, Emly and Galtee Rovers.
