ALL IRELAND HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL
What has now become an eagerly awaited annual contest between
Tipperary and Kilkenny takes place on Sunday next August 19 at Croke
Park in the All Ireland senior hurling championship semi-final. Cathal
McAllister of Cork, who refereed this year’s Munster
final, will be in charge of the whistle. Tipperary and Kilkenny have met
22 times previously in the championship with Tipperary winning 13
times, Kilkenny 9 times and no draws. Recent history however favours
Kilkenny with 4 wins in the last 5 encounters – 2002
and 2003 All Ireland semi-finals and the 2009 and 2011 finals compared
with Tipperary’s single win in the 2010 final. Tipperary and Kilkenny
have met 5 times in semi-finals with 3 wins for Tipp and 2 for Kilkenny.
We wish the players and management every success
for Sunday’s game and hope there will be a big Tipperary contingent
present to support them.
ELECTRIC IRELAND ALL IRELAND MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Good luck to the Tipperary minor hurlers and management for their
All Ireland semi-final against Galway on Sunday at Croke Park at 1.30pm.
The game will be refereed by Tony Carroll of Offaly. It is Tipperary’s
first All Ireland minor semi-final since 2009
when they were defeated by Kilkenny. Tipperary and Galway have met on 28
occasions in the minor hurling championship resulting in 18 wins for
Tipperary, 8 for Galway and 2 draws. Their last meeting was in the 2006
All Ireland final when Tipperary won by 2-18
to 2-7. Galway’s last victory over Tipperary was in the 2003 semi-final
by 2-19 to 2-16.

receive free entry for 2 people to the county senior
hurling and football finals and a 10% discount voucher for a purchase at
the Tipperary GAA shop. A special discount card to selected retail
outlets will also be made available to contributors. All contributors
who have donated by September 1 2012 will be entered
into a draw for 5 pairs of tickets for the All Ireland hurling or
