Mid U-21 Football Championship Results Two games took place last weekend in the Mid U-21 Football championship. In the Mid U-21 A football championship Losers Group Final JK Brackens defeated Upperchurch- Drombane by 1-8 to 0-6. In Round 3 of the Mid U-21 B football championship Gortnahoe- Glengoole had a comprehensive win over Drom- Inch defeating them by 1-12 to 1-5. Season Tickets - Fantastic Value Season Tickets which entitle the holder to entry to all games under the control of the Mid Board are now available and can be purchased at a cost of €100 by contacting the Mid Board Secretary or any other officer of the Board. Last year there was over 200 games in the Mid from minor right up to senior in both codes, and by purchasing a season ticket you can go to all of these games for just € 100. Clonakenny GAA Club The Clonakenny GAA Dinner Dance in association with Templemore Camogie Club took place last Saturday night in the Templemore Arms Hotel. Special Guest Lar Corbett presented the medals to the victorious Clonakenny Mid Intermediate Hurling and U/21 B Football Champions and the Templemore County Intermediate Champions. Presentations were also made to the victorious management teams. Also on the night the 2010 Clonakenny GAA Hall of Fame Award was presented to Jack Fogarty who received a standing ovation from the huge crowd present. Jack who is almost ninety years of age played for Clonakenny in the 1940s and was captain of the Junior Hurling Team defeated by New Thurles Rangers in the Mid Final of 1948 Moycarkey / Borris GAA Club Moycarkey/ Borris held their Annual Medal Presentation Night & Dinner Dance last Saturday night in the Anner Hotel and it was a great success with a large turnout on the night. Thurles Sarsfields GAA Club This year Thurles Sarsfields Presentation & Awards night will take place in the Dome, Semple Stadium on Saturday 19th March. This promises to be a great night and a huge crowd is expected to attend. The victorious teams will receive their medals on the night and the Player of the Year awards along with the clubs Hall of Fame award will also be presented on the night. There will be a 2 course meal provided and music will be by the very popular band the Paddies. Tickets for the night can be obtained by contacting any member of the club and the ticket price is only €20. Holycross - Ballycahill GAA Club A DVD of last year’s championship winning teams is still available at a cost of 5 euro. Please contact any committee member to order your DVD. Fitness Centre A new state of the art training facility has opened recently in the GAA grounds in Holycross. The training facility is called Health Quest Fitness Centre and includes an extensive array of equipment to cover Cardiovascular Training, Muscle Endurance and Strength Training along with Core Conditioning. This new gym is open to the public on a membership basis or pay per use basis. A special membership offer is available to players of clubs who may wish to join the gym and avail of the facilities. Frank Morris Our sincere thanks and gratitude to Frank Morris for all his services to the County Bord na nOg over the years. Frank stepped down recently as Treasurer of the Bord. Fitzgibbon Cup Last weekend saw the semi-finals and final of this year’s Fitzgibbon Cup. The semi- final pairings saw Limerick IT defeat UCC, and UL defeated Cork IT in the second semi -final. In the final UL grabbed a late goal by substitute Thomas O Brien to win the Fitzgibbon Cup. Mid Tipperary players taking part were Michael Cahill (Thurles Sarsfields) and Shane Bourke (JK Brackens) with UCC. On the UL team were Thomas Lowry (Holycross – Ballycahill) and Kieran Morris (Moycarkey- Borris). The UL manager was Ger Cunningham who was manager of Thurles Sarsfields when they won their first county title in 31 years in 2005. Congratulations to Thomas and Kieran on winning the Fitzgibbon Cup. Maher Cup Congratulations to St Patrick’s College Thurles who had a great weekend in winning the Maher Cup by defeating Cork Colleges of Further Education on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-4. Munster Colleges SBHC CASHEL Community School bridged a 29 year gap at Clonmel on Saturday when winning the Munster Colleges SBHC title for the first time since 1982. In a marvellous final they withstood a tremendous fight back by Dungarvan who won the title last year for the first time, and on the evidence of this performance, will make a strong bid for All-Ireland honours in the coming weeks. The final score was Cashel CS 2-8 to Dungarvan CBS 1-8. Scor This Saturday March 5th in Cappoquin the Munster semi -final of the Senior Scor will be held. Mid Tipperary will have 5 teams representing the county and we extend our best wishes to the following teams who will represent Tipperary in the following categories and indeed to all teams representing Tipperary.
