Over eighty teams participated in the very successful Friends of Tipperary Football Golf Classic held recently in Thurles Golf Club. In keeping with tradition teams of four, many representing clubs and organisations all over County Tipperary, gave of their generous support to the ‘Friends.’ The proceeds of the classic will help to defray the costs associated with the preparation of intercounty football squads. Blessed with favourable weather for the two day event, chief organiser Martin O’ Dwyer (Moycarkey-Borris) and his team invested a huge effort into organising the classic, and, they are very grateful to all participating teams, sponsors of the competition, tee box sponsors, Thurles Golf club, and everybody who supported the venture. Many Tipperary hurlers and footballers were among the golfers in action over Friday and Saturday.
